I got bit distracted with work...

I got passkey installed. Scanned the original DVD with VSO Inspector and it reports no errors at all..

I will go do a new pass with DVDFab to catch the log files,,,

Uninstalling Passkey has brought back the problem.. Interesting.. With Passkey installed I have no issue. Without passkey 8.X has the issue..

          Its now repeatable again.

Im not sure about what logs you want...

So I am open to suggestion as to what to do to help isolate the issue...

There are a bunch of copy protections on this disc. Maybe its some form of copy protection not being properly removed by 8.X but is being removed by Passkey when I use 8.X ?

I donno.... Its a weird one..

I think it because you are burning at max speed and not 12x or 8x speed for those Verbatim media you have. Click the link below and watch the youtube video to see how to set up ImgBurn and DVDFab to work together

If that does not work then Disable Pathplayer as Black Hawk Down is a 2003 release and does not really require Pathplayer to be enabled but do not know if you have one of the newer release either as they have newer copy protection on them

              I did more testing..

I used different drives for burning and reading..I did this at 8X on all the drives.

These all resulted in the same skips while playing at the same places during playback.

I then reinstalled Passkey and used VSO Inspector to check the copied discs. Amazingly they all passed..

So I gues this means that the discs were burned correctly and the data on the discs reads without any problems...

So the only thing that could be wrong was that the data itself was the issue and was causing the skips. The burned disc is perfect and there are no errors on the disk. Its the data..

So DVDFab must be creating this data incorrectly with the skips.

This seems to make sense as i can use 7.X and the discs come out fine. It also appears I can install Passkey and use 8.X and everything comes out OK.

I still think that something is wrong with 8.X and this becomes a issue when using dirty source DVD's.

              More info...

              Im using Main Movie..

My computer is a Abit mother board with a P4 with hyperthearding clocking at 3.4 GHZ. 2GB of Kingston High Performance ram, Adaptec RAID SATA controller running 2 Raptor drives in RAID 0 for performance. I have 2 SATA based DVD burners a Liteon 422 and a Plextor 810A, I also have a PATA Liteon 324.

I also have a second computer with a very different setup and it has the same issues when burning the discs.

I am getting even more convinced that this is a software issue with the current versions of DVDFab. As I said before maybe its as simple as the read settings for skip sectors and retries is not being applied properly ?

I would love to find that I did something wrong or its some setting but I just don't know what else to play with..

VSO Inspection of the copied disc that has bad skips and then eventually will stop playing and hang..

Oh yes, oops. Thanx I could have gotten in trouble..

Is there some program I could use to explore what is wrong with the data on the disc ? Maybe there is a clue to what is going wrong ?

I guess I could play with retries and skip sectors and see if that changes anything. Just to see if those settings work.

Really weird that a VSO Inspection of the original disc with Passkey active shows no problems/errors but if you use Nero 8.X without Passkey the data files generated by DVDFab of the Main Movie selection contain skips/hangs.

                        Very weird..
