Best settings for ripping dvd to mkv

Just bought the DVDfab ripper for windows and has started ripping my dvd's. But I need some help with choosing the best settings.

I use the mkv profile
Currently in the video settings I am using
codec : h264
Resolution : same as source (720x 398)
Frame rate: same as source
Encoding method: CRF 18
Video quality: High
bit rate and output size is locked
Deinterlacing: should this be on or off? (all my dvd is in pal)
preserve chapters: on
Audio: passtrough

What about the video edit? something to change there?

At first I tried to put the encoding method to 1pass and the bitrate at 1800 but then I read that it was better to use the cfr at 18 - 20

Anyone who can give some advise?

What youâre asking is basically a matter of opinion. My advice to you is experiment find what you like best. Just use a couple of chapters so it doesnât take up all of your time, use brightly colored fast action sequences to assure smooth playback. What youâre currently using should work pretty well.
