DVD Ripper DVD Ripper never finishes

DVD Ripper seems to work fine for me but it simply never finishes. The Task Time Left counts down to 0 and the Total Time keeps counting up endlessly. I am using 8.0.3.1 because I needed the forces subtitles option to work, but it did the same thing to me on 8.0.2.9. I let it run for over 5 hours yesterday and it never finished. If I cancel the resulting ~1GB file is unplayable. I am using the iPad profile with 2-pass conversion. Here is the log:

    DVDFab 8.0.3.1 (2010/10/29 10:04:43)

This is the first time I've posted here so I'm not sure if you need anything else from me. Any thoughts?

    More info:

When I finally hit cancel it locked up the app and I had to kill it after letting it sti there for 15 min or so. No additional entries were in the log file but the main screen showed the following:

    Task: 1/1
    Total Time Elapsed: 03:02:27
    Encoding Fps: 75.82
    Percent: 100.00%
    Task Time Elapsed: 01:41:56
    Task Time Left: 00:00:00

I am running Windows 7 Ult x64 with an Intel Core 2 CPU @2.00Ghz and 4Gb Ram.

I am converting the main feature from a DVD ISO file of The Matrix Reloaded that was ripped in full using XXXX so I can load it on my iPad. For troubleshooting purposes I will now reboot (did it before, but just in case this issue requires 2 reboots...) and try ripping a different movie. IF that works I'll try Reloaded again direct from the original disc and I'll post the results. Thanks.

Same thing with Tropic Thunder. It gets to 100% but never finishes and the file left behind is unplayable.

Use original disc! DVDFab DVD Copy/ DVD Ripper does not remove copy protection from ISO files. Since the other program you used to make the ISO does not remove copy protection for them and as well gives you a big warning about it not supposed to be used for a DVD then that is your problem

Use original DVD and will work

No, the copy protection has been stripped from the ISO files and I get the exact same results with the original disc. I have, however, figured it out. The problem only occurs when I choose 2 passes. When I go back the the default 1 pass setting it works fine. I have now converted all of the DVD ISO files that were locking up earlier with 1 pass and with no issues. I still would like to get of the bottom of this since I prefer higher quality over speed.

By the way, what are you talking about here? The "other program" does remove the copy protection. What "big warning"?? Were you replying to a different post or something?

Maybe it does as I would not know because I only use it about every 2 or 3 months. The Big warning you get before you rip to hard drive as ISO! See attachment. If you are only going to view on computer using virtual drive then using rip to iso can be used see attachment red box. If you are going to process with a DVD Copy program then you need to use rip dvd video to hard disk see highlight

Gotcha. I'm no newbie where ripping DVDs is concerned, the copy protection has been removed. The problem is the 2-pass encoding. I hope you guys can fix it in the next release.
