M2TS TrueHD problems

I have a problem with ripping a blu-ray and getting the TrueHD audio on the M2TS file. On matter which audio track i select i only get Dolby Digital and not TrueHD, it works fine with DTSMA and DTS-HDMA only Dolby TrueHD. I have tried to play back the files both from a Popcorn hour and burn them on to a disk both with the same result. And i know that my processer can decode TrueHD because i put the original disk in the player it plays TrueHD without any problems.

Are you sure that your device produced TrueHD sound and not downconverting to Dolby Digital when playing original?

Please scan your content of question with MediaInfo and see what kind of audio you truly have. Google for MediaInfo if you do not have it and install, it's freeware.

Yes, because i can se which audio signal my surround processer and if i play the origianl it locks to a TrueHD and if i play the copy from my rip it locks to a Dolby Digital audio.

If i put the rip in to MediaInfo it just says AC-3 48Khz and 16Bit which as far i i know "just" is Dolby Digital.

is the really no one that has any idea what could be wrong? Or is it "just" a bug in DVDFab? Which would really suck since i paided for the full program and cant really use for other than DTS-HD in blu-ray rip:mad:

i just tried to rip in MKV and there TrueHD works perfect, so it is only a problem when i rip to M2TS, which seems really strange.

make sure you not have remove HD Audio selected. If you are using the Blu-ray Ripper to convert to a single m2ts format then it may remove the HD Audio while it converts to single m2ts format.

Try using DVDFab Blu-ray Copy Full Disc/Main MOvie option depending on what you want. That will maintain and keep HD Audio

Yes I'm sure that remove HD audio is NOT selected.

One of the reasons that I bought DVDfab was that I had the option to rip only a specific chapter from the disk as i often do surround demos and it is just easier to have a disk with the 5-10 clips that I prefer instead for having to change disks all the time

But i will try to use the main movie option and see if that works, at least i will have the HD sound on my media server;)

BDRip to MKV

I too have run into a similar problem. When trying to play the created MKV I only get stereo Audio. I have ensured that ac3 truehd is the audio track selected. I have ripped with the option to remove HD Audio but nothing changes. I'm not looking to get truehd as my received is only 5.1.

also, just to be clear, other mkv and avi files are working fine and yes for the videos that have ac3 i get dolby digital.

I have downloaded the most recent release of DVDFab and tried again, but get same results.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Blu-ray Copy has the option "remove HD audio" that allows more space and reduce the amount of video compression. "Remove HD audio" works in the way of converting Dolby TrueHD to Dolby AC-3, DTS-HD audio to DTS. If you want to keep HD audio, just let the box unchecked.

I have the exact same problem when trying ripping TrueHD audio to m2ts. It works perfectly when playing the movie file with DTS HD MA.

So basicly I payed for Blu Ray ripper and cant use it properly? Hope this will be fixed soon

I've just been trialling Ripper and have found that it remove TrueHD audio from the m2ts output even without asking. I have checked its output using other products such as TSmuxer which identify only Dolby (AC3) stream and no HD data. TSmuxer also appears to mess up TrueHD because the PCH can't play it although VLC can on the PC.

The video output also started glitching about an hour into a movie and the sound became out of sync by about 3 seconds - oops!

And I see no sign of forced subtitles even though I checked the box.

It does reduce the size of the files though.

Hi HDmania,

Please upgrade to DVDFab 8.0.7.3 with which you can enable/disable the “remove HD audio” box in Blu-ray Ripper.

Please open Common Settings->General->A/V Codec, set all the video decoder options and video encoder options as Software, then convert again to see if you can fix this a/v sync issue.

If there are no forced subs in the stream you selected, output file will be displayed with no subtitle in player. Please play the original disc in your player to select the stream that contains forced subs and check Display only forced in Blu-ray Ripper(if they are actually forced).
You can also find out which stream they are located in using the DVDFab preview window, then select the correct forced subpicutre to convert.

thanks for the reply.

Did some checking and some testing hence delay in getting back.

I had downloaded 8.0.7.3 from the start as I am running a trial. Checked the common setting and they are as you suggested.

By using the viewer (although a tad small) I could see that the subtitles are in the video but when I play them on my PCH (A110) there is nothing. So I think the problem is with the PCH not the software.

The bad news is that I have tried a few of my blurays with TrueHD tracks and the software does not passthrough TrueHD audio (as it says it will do) into the m2ts output. I have not asked it to remove the HD audio.....
