I'm using WM and it is very useful and easy to use for me, so I decided to
present it here.
In case of 'good' tool, here will be very good an application which first
can compare two English strings (sometimes there are changes inside
one string, which exists...) then to compare English file with translated...

The program mark with

- light yellow a field with a string that is present but equal to english (is a warning).
- bright yellow a field where the field is empty and you have to fill in.

The program helps a lot to identify on the fly position and string to revised.

The program has also a feature very usefull - <Tools> - <Show only untranslated strng> view only the empty string (bright yellow) and string equal to english (light to yellow) and hide other strings.

In this way you can see the real part the require your attention.


WinMerge is a program born to use as file compare not as language file editor (as IniTransl).
Things if what happen if the contents as string numbers of the file is identical but it's in the different order than original.
In this situation WinMerge is very difficulkt to use.

And it's handle well about the UNICODE format of .ini. Thank u!

I'm using to translate many applications - only WinMerge.
Through the years it is my based, free and best software to easy
compare of files to translate.
I recommend it!

Aha, missed that. Sorry.

Only issue then is if the original text on an already existing string is changed. This will not be picked up by this program. So I think I will still use Notepad++ to pick up new changes in the .ENG file.

Not sure it works that great. Some strings that are translated, it reports as not translated.

If you pay attention, the program marks as not translated the sentences that are equal in the original file and translation, such as OK, vdrive.exe etc.

It it's not a error of the program, but the way it identifies the strings that are not translated.

I already downloaded and installed 8.0.3.2/8.0.3.3.

For who is interested I found a very interesting freeware application for reading DVDfab sofwtare english and local language, compare which strings are missing, edit them and save.
