How do I prevent DVDFab from checking for updates?

How do I prevent DVDFab from checking for updates when it's not even open and I'm not even using it? It's highly irritating and intrusive. I've been using DVDFab for years but this is the first time I've ever felt it was a plague on my machine that I need to uninstall.

When DVDFab is not running, it should not popup an update window. Sorry for the inconvenience. I will have the developer check it out.

I get the update window on a daily basis when DVDFAB is NOT running. Very irritating. Particularly since the update fails when you run it.

I find it interesting, after all these years, that this is still a problem, even when they say it shouldn't be! They need to add an item in the general "settings" to uncheck a box to have the Updater load when rebooting Windows. Toggle on or off. In fact, my updater wants to check or alert me of an update every couple hours! Extremely annoying... Yes, i know i can go to my Task Manager and kill the process, but it sure would be nice if dvdFAB would fix the problem and add a setting in the the settings menu!

I know what you're talking about on this issue. You need to go to "msconfig", then click on the "startup" tab. Then drag and expand the "command" section to show more text. Every time an update is done it will make an entry here. "Uncheck" each DVDFab item shown in the expanded area, then click "apply", then "OK", then "Exit without restart", and this will stop this from happening at every reboot.

Unfortunately, your directions for using MSCONFIG are no longer valid in Windows 11. When you bring this up and go to the Startup Tab, it simply has a link to click to open up the Task Manager. Unfortunately, windows made this option completely useless. You can only "disable" it temporarily in the Tax Manager.

the other way around this is to go to the Settings app, click on Apps, then Startup. In here you can now toggle things on/off. Sadly though, i checked all the DVDfab programs, they were already toggled off. Then found the Live Update program and it was also already Toggled off.

Sadly, it appears the DVDfab team doesn't want to allow us control over this file. They want to be in full control and and don't care. I also have a suspicion that since this is a foreign made program they are using it as a malware program.

I came here to join you guys and ask DVDFab for the same thing. Every time I go away from my PC for a while, I come back and I have two new DVDFab "New Updates" popups waiting for me. I'm so used to it, that I can tell when my PC is slowing down, I say to myself, "I bet DVDFab is popping up," and I am right every time. I love DVDFab and I promise I will update it the next time I use it. But please wait until I open the program to ask.

Yup.
When I did a BIOS update on my mobo my MSI easy update was running on the first new boot into Windows, I noticed the updater task was in the startup again too. I eliminate all the startup bloat I can. At least they don't hide it like MSI does.
