Amazon Not able to download my chosen resolution (720x576) on Amazon

Hi all. Wondering if anyone on the forum can help as I've not had any success at all with help via the ticket system in the Member Center.

I have successfully dowloaded SD (standard definition) streams from Amazon & Britbox (via Amazon) for many months.now using Streamfab at a resolution of 720 x 576 which is the same resolution used on PAL DVD's for older tv episodes. For the last few weeks something has changed and I can no longer download 720 x 576 resolution even though it is offered by Streamfab after it analyzes. Even though I always choose the option of 720 x 576 it always results in a 768 x 576 file (a different option), which it never used to do. It's only recently started doing this like I said.
768 x 576 is not better, it is worse quality than 720 x 576 on my tv screen. Quality is definitely poorer and this can also be proven by the file sizes. 720 x 576 always gives a considerably bigger file size than 768 x 576.

Can someone please look into this for me please. Streamfab has been faulty in this regard for almost a month or so now. Thank you.

That is just a tiny bit better than the old DVD format. Not even close to good.

Bigger doesn't always mean better but if you say the 720x576 is better then ok... But there are things we need in order to help you... Chief among them is what you are trying to download.

      So, here are the questions:
      • Did you install StreamFab via the online or offline installer?
      • What Movie/TV Show are you trying to download?
      • What Amazon region are you in?
      • Is the Movie/Show available on regular Prime or is it part of a channel subscription
      • Are you downloading as H264 or H265? CBR or CVBR?
      • Saving to MP4 or MKV?

Hi Chameleon. Thanks for the reply. They are old tv programmes from 1960's through to late 1990's. They were never in HD. They are SD standard definition only, so HD is not available. The best quality for the files is showing 720x576 but I can no longer get that resolution even though Streamfab analysis offers it. It lets me choose it as well as various other resolutions including the unwanted 768x576, but the dowloaded file is now always the unwanted 768x576 rather than the wanted 720x576. This appears inferior on my TV and is a smaller file size than 720x576 so this also proves its inferior in quality.

Also, Hi jpp72. Thanks for responding also.
My answers are below in 'bold' within your quotes..

        So, here are the questions:
        • Did you install StreamFab via the online or offline installer? Within the software where it says 'check for update'
        • What Movie/TV Show are you trying to download? It is any vintage tv show that offers both 768x576 and 720x576 amongst others. If I choose 720x576 my download ends up being the unwanted 768x576
If 768x576 is not one of the resolution options then I can successfully get 720x576, which is the one I'm after.
        • What Amazon region are you in? U.K.
        • Is the Movie/Show available on regular Prime or is it part of a channel subscription? Any old shows on Prime or Britbox channel subscription via Prime video channels.
        • Are you downloading as H264 or H265? CBR or CVBR? H264 and CVBR
        • Saving to MP4 or MKV? MKV
        Thanks for looking!

This would be a lot easier if you just told us what you are downloading. So that i can definitely see for myself.

I cannot really go on Prime and try to guess.

If you say: I am trying to download The Black Adder @ 720x576 but i keep getting 768x576 then i can actually try it and see what the problem is. I don't live in the UK so i don't know what series are from what decades besides the huge ones like Monty Python, Faulty Towers & The Black Adder

Ok so i went to my Britbox channel on Prime and hovered over a bunch of stuff to find things from those decades. I had tried Black Adder and The IT Crowd but they didn't have both resolutions. I finally found Are You Being Served: Again! and that one had both.

I can confirm this is a StreamFab bug as the competitor gets the 720x576 when i select that.

I invite you to create an issue on the bug tracker in my signature

Hi jpp72. Thank you for being so helpful.
An example series on Amazon Prime UK is 'Men Behaving Badly' from the early to mid 1990's. This had both resolution options. If I try to download at the preferred 720x576 I don't get it. I end up with 768x576. File size is less and poorer quality. Surely a bug? It's been fine until the last month or so and Streamfab support are not helping with my support ticket. The nameless support person did not seem interested in helping a paying subscriber to DVDfab365 annual subscription. Shocking really.
Hopefully a different support person will help from now onwards.

Interesting that you have Britbox and I'm very grateful that you've tried helping me by looking for relevant affected tv series that have both of the resolutions previously mentioned. I really appreciate it. I see you found an example; 'Are You Being Served Again'.

I will try your bug tracker and once again thank you very much jpp72
