    StreamFab for Windows 6.1.9.3

Version 6193 will be available soon.

It is important that you DO NOT update via the program itself.

Instead, download the offline installer from the website or forum. Follow the Cats4U uninstall instructions, they are clear and understandable. Don't forget to delete the two folders "Log" and "Temp", depending on where they are located on your computer. Also delete the folder C:\Users\Sebastian001\AppData\Roaming\DVDFab.

After that, your queue will be empty, your settings will be gone, you will have to log in to your streamer again...When you start Streamfab for the first time after reinstalling, you will have to authorize yourself.

But all this takes less time than fixing problems caused by the update via the program...

How to do a clean install of the latest StreamFab

    1. Totally delete the contents of your StreamFab Log & Temp directories. Please refer to your StreamFab Settings as to where you have told SF where to save them.

    2. Use a "professional" uninstall program to completely remove the old version of StreamFab.
Make sure the uninstaller removes Registry entries for StreamFab as well as the program.
Do not use the built-in Windows uninstaller as it tends to leave stuff behind.
A good source for currently available free uninstallers is at or simply Google "Uninstallers" for additional free and pay programs. Some commonly used uninstallers are Revo, Ashampoo, and Total Uninstaller. Right now, I prefer the Ashampoo - . Revo sometimes makes you reboot your computer.
Important: Be sure to choose to remove StreamFab's current configuration when asked.

    3. Download the latest offline version of StreamFab from the "Sticky" announcement at the top of the forum. Otherwise just download directly from...
    32bit version:
    64bit version:
Never use the online pop-up installer as it sometimes produces bad installs.

    4. Install the new version of StreamFab.
If the uninstall program you used has a Install component to it, use that to install StreamFab.
Using the Install component will keep a complete log of everything added and make a future uninstall easier the next time. When the install is done, start up your new version of SF. A pop-up will appear asking you to re-authorize your StreamFab, do that by giving your email/password. Give your DVDFab email/password, not your forum email/password, if different.
Then go up to the upper right of StreamFab's display and click the Settings icon and set up your StreamFab configuration to your liking. After setting up your configuration and saving, it is best to close StreamFab and then restart it.
Do a clean install everytime a new StreamFab version comes out and you will have fewer problems.

Sorry, I'm fairly new to SteamFab, can you explain why this needs to be done?
It would seem that if this is something that has to be done each and every time a new version comes out then installer should handle doing it. Why doesn't SteamFab resolve this very cumbersome user experience?

The fact that the online update is not always error-free ...
... has never been different since my forum registration.
That's why I prevented the update search after the 2nd or 3rd upgrade.

In over a year of upgrading via offline installer,
I have yet to have a problem and I have not skipped a version.

Only after Max worked for some, but for many results in "Host ... not found"
I cleaned up and reinstalled. Result: Max worked, but Netflix AV1 was faulty.

With my old StreamFab.ini, Netflix AV1 was correct - but Max was not found in the DL again.
(we have many examples where a return to the old version helped due to new problems)
So it's not always the best solution to remove everything old (unsaved).

When changing the new settings with 619x, a error was built into
the (also offline) upgrade - problem case: StreamFab.ini => info

Why doesn't SteamFab resolve this very cumbersome user experience?
Theoretically, yes, they are the ones that should resolve the problem, but after waiting many years, in some cases, it becomes obvious that until they finally get around to it, the user needs to take matters in their own hands. The reason this needs to be done is that over time it has become clear that when an update occurs, StreamFab is leaving behind configurations and registry settings from the prior version. In most cases, this will not cause much of an ill effect. Other times you wind up with a dangerously confused hybrid. The worst example of this happened during the latest DRM change, when they were going back and forth between screen recording (they referred to it as re-encoding) and stream downloading. This is the root of why StreamFab has long been known for updates that are "one step forward, two steps back". That's not even including use of the online updater, which has its own set of disasters waiting to happen. Never use the online updater. It should have been removed years ago. Search the forum for various methods that users have come up with to stop it from appearing.

After installation, Windows Defender or Firewall will ask if you want to grant permission to Streamfab or Youtube dl. Did you answer yes?
