I still have hope that at some point a version 7 will come out that is really NEW.

      They were busy with Recode...

Right now, it downloads BR1 and it's so fucking annoying. I have to go back and analyze individual episodes and download BR2 one by one
Yes, that only works if you notice that only B1 was loaded.

Can you see in the log whether B1, B2, B3 was loaded?

They had "re-encode" since they started with whatever StreamFab was called in the beginning. My mind is coming up blank right now as to what it was named. It was only later that they went to direct download. Jack and I were told just a few days before they released it that they were going to use the re-encode (or as Wilson referred to it as "like CleverGet") until they could figure out the DRM. We begged Wilson not to do that, but he did it anyway. My point is that there was no reason to be "busy with Recode" because they already had it coded up from previous times, and they were able to just insert it in a matter of 2 days after the (bad) decision was made to use it.

Yes, I still remember Jack raging because they really spent 5 updates tinkering with the "recoding". Because some users had no patience and wanted to load something.

I hope that the next lockdown will be calmer, and hopefully shorter.

This is actually impacting the audio track availability. Take NCIS for example. Searching for NCIS within SF and clicking the link results in only EAC3 2.0 being available. What isn't apparent at this point is that it is actually the descriptive audio track. No other tracks are available in the dropdown.

If I search NCIS S15 in my browser and paste the URL in, I end up with EAC3 5.1 and the correctly labeled EAC3 2.0 descriptive audio available in the dropdown box. There's also an extra copy of the subtitle track not present in the original analyze.

              Code:
              https://www.amazon.com/gp/video/detail/B074YL1F2Q/ref=atv_dp_season_select_s15

I found out some recent show episodes were downloaded with the descriptive audio track and had to download them again. I forget how I got it to not do that and not use descriptive audio track.
THIS AGAIN IS BECAUSE OF CHANGES IN THE AMAZON SITE THAT SF CAN'T FIGURE OUT. As well as the other issues discussed here.
On or about the end of 2024 I will be losing access to Netflix Standard.
After that, I might reevaluate if I want Netflix Standard /w Ads.
I will continue to have access to Amazon w/ Ads and Peacock w/ Ads.
TheCW, Pluto, Roku Channel, Tubi, and Plex, along with others, are good FREE w/ Ads services.

                  Hello Cats4U,
This is my first time writing here in the forum.

Was the re-encoding at the beginning of the year the first time that SF used it? Or has this happened before with DRM problems?

I had a 1-year license (Amazon) in 2023 and actually wanted to switch to a lifetime license in 2024. But then came the DRM story. I followed your reports closely and was no longer sure whether I should buy the program again.

Why did things go so badly at Fab in these 6 months?

Now you get the impression that everything is going great again and Wilson, for example, always answers and takes care of things.

From what I've heard, it seems that another DRM change is imminent. Is SF prepared for this or could a similar disaster like at the beginning of the year be imminent.

I really appreciate your reports! That's why I'm asking you - is the program something for the future or could it be difficult because the streaming services want to protect their content...

                  Best regards from Germany

As I wrote in message # 19, re-encoding was used initially in the first versions of StreamFab which were named DVDFab Downloader at the time. The time being somewhere around 2020, I think.

I had a 1-year license (Amazon) in 2023 and actually wanted to switch to a lifetime license in 2024. But then came the DRM story. I followed your reports closely and was no longer sure whether I should buy the program again.
That's totally up to you. Personally, I rely on torrenting nowadays more than SF.

Why did things go so badly at Fab in these 6 months?
Firstly, they were the victim of the cat and mouse game that is stream downloading. Secondly, I don't think they make the best decisions for their customers. They need better management and need to hire more competent developers, especially ones that specialize in cryptography.

Now you get the impression that everything is going great again and Wilson, for example, always answers and takes care of things.
That's an interesting impression. I don't want to dispel you from your fantasy.

From what I've heard, it seems that another DRM change is imminent. Is SF prepared for this or could a similar disaster like at the beginning of the year be imminent.
There's always another DRM change around the corner. It's all part of the cat and mouse game. I have no idea what SF is up to. Probably planning another porn release. You should ask them what they have planned for the eventuality.

I really appreciate your reports! That's why I'm asking you
Thank you, but there are plenty of other individuals here with plenty of valid opinions. I wouldn't rely on just one individual, especially if it is me. Gather everyone's thoughts and then make your own opinions.

                      - is the program something for the future or could it be difficult because the streaming services want to protect their content...
Personally, because of the cat and mouse hassle as well as the exorbitant price, I think the time for SF has passed. That's not even counting the slowness they take in fixing problems and being on the losing end of a multi-million dollar international lawsuit. If it was a worthwhile venture, they wouldn't be the last stream downloading program left standing.

                      Best regards from Germany

I have now analyzed season 4. Normally season 4 episode 1 should now be selected in the window, i.e. 1 of 107.

Now 0 of 107 is selected. We no longer know which episode was used for analysis.

Basically this would not be a problem if Streamfab analyzed each episode individually, like it did back then, even if it would take 1 minute longer.

Wilson.Wang , can you check this?

I reported the change several weeks ago and my thread was closed by someone other than me with no explanation.

As far as Jack's suggestion on the auto-analyze method, I had tried that and got the same blank seasons screen.
Will try the manual method and see how that works. No doubt splendidly!

Ya i guess i am just going to go back to not participating in this forum.

Germania and I did a full workup on what the issue is and detailed what is working and what isn't.

In 6.1.9.6, you could analyze individual episodes with the manual analysis it just didn't put the checkmark for the episode.

Then some posers, who like to think they know what they are talking about, chime in last saying nothing is working and SF must put a checkmark fuck it up for all of us. IDK if Wilson.Wang just decided the thread was too long and only read that fucking post but now you can only analyze Season 1, Episode 1. No matter what.

So this effectively kills the click here to analyze button. Manual or auto analysis does the exact same thing. Copying the URL too.

Of course, no mention of this "fix" in the changelog for 6.1.9.7 or 6.1.9.8. That is why people try new versions to see if their issue is fixed because for every change they document, 3 others aren't.

So now, that means i am going to have to use 6.1.9.6 for Amazon and 6.1.9.8 for Netflix.

What a fucking joke. Only i stopped laughing long ago.

Anyone wanna take a guess as to why i quit being a mod here?

Yes, individual analysis would be useful everywhere ...
