Often (but not always) there is a chapter break just as the credits start. You can use the DVDFab Preview window and watch the chapter readout for the change or just play the original disc in a regular player and watch to see if there is a chapter change you can use to clip the credits. If there is, use the Title Start/End button and set it to begin at chapter 1 and end at the chapter number just before the credits chapter.

    Nero

Been a long time user of Nero for burning DVD's, untill recently used Nero 8, but as stated by others it does not always recognise the DVD structure and flags up an error. On occosion even burns the titles in the incorrect order.

Recently purchased Nero 11, bad move was that, the one thing i used it for, removing end credits in order to get a 100% back up of the main movie on a single layer disk seems to have disappeared.

Checking the Nero forum seems a common complaint.

Anyone know if this can be done by DVDfab, i know chapters can be removed but never figured how to do selected removal of titles/end credits.

I've never been impressed with anything Nero has. Imgburn, on the other hand, is outstanding, especially the tutorials.

Nero is an absolutely terrible program. Nero 6 or 7 was ok, but ever since then its been garbage. I made the mistake of buying Nero 9.

Yes it is FREE, but if you use the tool a lot as I do, PLEASE help support it's future and its further development by donating to its author/developer LUK (Lightning UK).

I've been using it and its predecessor since their inception. ImgBurn is by FAR the BEST burning engine/software on the PLANET, whereas Nero is bloatware and carries a lot of extra baggage, a resource hog....

Great to hear and I really like how you can set it to burn at a certain speed for the blank media you use and the DVD burner that you use as well. I have a lot of different media and 5 DVD burners so that option comes in handy.

Thanks for the heads-up on ImgBurn. I've installed it and followed the video from Troy. I haven't burned anything yet but will give it a try when I have something new to burn.

I agree with what GregiBoy said as I have used both VSO and Nero and then finally found ImgBurn and have stuck with it for all my burning with DVDFab. I do not even install the VSO burn engine anymore and I no longer have Nero installed on my computer.

It does ask you where the file is but it only allows you to specify the NeroCmd.exe file which is not part of the free Nero burn engine.

Check that... Even though it asks for the NeroCmd.exe file, I typed in the NeroStartSmart.exe file and it took that.

I'm still looking for some insight into the difference between the VSO and Nero engine and why I would choose one over the other.

    TIA

I've got the same problem. The location of the Nero burning ROM can't be changed. I even reinstalled DVDFab after Nero 9, but still wants to find it at C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\NeroCmd.exe. How can I make DVDFab look here, C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 9\Nero Burning ROM\NeroCmd.exe, where it was installed with Nero 9?

From your post, it's not clear (...is also integrated into DVDFab) but I'm assuming you have to have the 9.4 free version of the Nero burn engine in order to select it from the write options page in DVDfab.

However, after installing the free Nero burn software, and I select the Nero Burning ROM option I get the error message, "Failed to locate the Nero Command Program(NeroCmd.exe). When I search for it, it can't be found. Is NeroCmd.exe a part of the full blown Nero9 program and not part of the free version? When I search the Nero9 directory, all I find is the NeroSmartStart.exe file. I'm assuming this is the one that should be invoked but there's no way that I can find to do this in the program. Other than that, it appears that the install of the free program was completed correctly as I didn't get an error (The program install finished with a message stating that it was installed correctly) and I can run the program and select either the data burning or copy disk options.

Can you give me some instructions on this? And as long as we're on the subject, can you give me a brief description of the difference between the Nero and the VSO burn engines? and why I would choose one over the other?

    Thank you
