New version problems

Dear support team.

Thanks for a piece of fantastic software and for your hard work.

After updating to version 5.0.0.8 (Windows) the annoying "reencoding" feature was apparently reintroduced. As before with this feature the downloads now takes much much longer (due to a very lenghty reencoding process), gives 3-4 x files size with neglible to zero visual difference compared to non-reencoded files. Why is this "feature" reintroduced? Upon installing an older version of StreamFab Netflix downloads normally again so it has nothing to do with Netflix itself.

Please read the changelog for v5.0.0.8, it relates to changes by the providers, not a purposeful change by the StreamFab developers.

Thank you for the answer. Why does the "old" download mode still work when using older versions of StreamFab? If it is a change related to the providers then it should download and reencode in the older versions as well. Also it is difficult to believe that all providers have made the same changes simultaneously

DRM schemes changes and the re-encode method in version 5008 is not totally the same as the one in the older versions.

But the old mode worked beautifully, download times are much lower and last but not least the file size is much lower than the re-encode mode! You had the re-encode download but introduced before but then it was removed. Could you tell me why?

The "why" of this is unimportant if the product still works. The re-encode was removed earlier because it slowed throughput for some users with less than optimum cpu and gpu capabilities. Posts that just ask “why” over and over will be deleted. Assume the developers have a good reason for making changes.
