Will this be addressed or is it on the back burner like the subtitle problem for Star Trek Strange New Worlds and Hawaii Five-0?.
Same Problem continues with 6129 for both the PBS no remux subtitle operation and the subtitle problem for Paramount+ ST Strange New Worlds and Hawaii Five-O.

PBS shows have the subtitles being recognized, and now they are being remuxed. This appears to have been resolved with SF 6130.

I will continue to test other PBS shows to make sure this is finally fixed. If so, hooray!

Maybe I wrote too soon. The PBS that remuxed the subtitle was a Antiques Roadshow. I'm having on going problems with Finding Your Roots, mostly because they don't close cleanly. I'm not sure what's going on, but they need to do better.

One of the problems is that the PBS / You Tube DL) doesn't offer an option to add the show to the queue, only cancel or download now. If I go for download now, if there is already a download running (PBS or other), the system will start the new download. Thus, I ended up with three Finding your Roots downloading at the same time. They all hung at the end and when they finally closed, no subtitles were muxed.

I really wish the downloaders would all behave the same or at least provide an "add to queue" option for the pbs.org shows.

          PBS.org and subtitles -- Aargh! (SF 6130)

Shows inconsistently remux the subtitles. So far, in my testing:

          Antiques Roadshow --
S26 E16 Vintage Palm Springs, Hour 1, subtitles not remuxed.
          S27 E01 Filoli, Hour 1, remuxed subtitles
S27 E02 Santa Fe’s Museum Hill, Hour 1, remuxed subtitles
S27 E03 Santa Fe’s Museum Hill, Hour 2, subtitles not remuxed
S27 E04 Santa Fe’s Museum Hill, Hour 3, remuxed subtitles
S27 E05 Cheekwood Estate & Gardens, Hour 1, remuxed subtitles

          Finding Your Roots --
Season 7 & 9, 12 total episodes tested, Subtitles exist (via Chrome browser), and are displayed as available in SF, but are not remuxed into the shows.

          Nature --
S41 E01 Running with the Beest, remuxed subtitles

          Nova --
S50 E01 London Super Tunnel, remuxed subtitles

I am continuing to test the PBS.org shows.

I have noted that the downloading that SF displays is inconsistent. While watching the SF activity via Windows 10 task manager, the display does not show Processing when the Task Manager indicates that the show is no longer being downloaded, but processed.

Edit Add: The display "Processed" varies with the show. Sometimes it is there and sometimes it isn't. Another inconsistent display and action.

At this point StreamFab is not the right tool to use to download from PBS and hope to get subtitles. May I suggest you purchase either Tubedigger or Internet Download Manager (IDM). Or as has been suggested previously, learn to use yt-dlp or the many GUI programs that use it.

according to mediainfo, the video does have timed text subtitles

I appreciate the suggestions, but I plan on continuing to report the problem as it exists. The most interesting thing is that the only consistent failure is Finding Your Roots. The rest capture the subtitles with only a few failures here and there. I'm not even sure that those failures are consistent and may go back and retry those that fail to see if the problem is intermittent or repeated tries will yield success.

When I checked it last night, the mediainfo was missing the text section. So, it is inconsistent.

The only one that is not setting the subtitles appears to be Finding Your Roots.

                  Thanks for the info.

I can't view the sample text (don't have permission). So far, there are two PBS series that have subtitles, but are not capturing them: Secrets of the Dead (that I have checked so far) and Finding Your Roots. Here is the mediainfo for Season 7, Episode 10. If there are subtitles, they have the ID # 3.

Interesting. The difference is that I'm saving in mkv format while you're saving in mpeg format. I'll have to give it a try. and also something for the developers to look at.

Thank you for posting the complete report.

Many thanks to october262. Switching to mpg resolved the PBS issue for me, but is disturbing because I use mkv which should be capturing to subtitle track.
