I see that there are some VP9 videos now. I can either watch a VP9 video or an h.264 video that is more than 2X larger. My understanding is that VP9 is on par with h.265, and thus about 50% better than h.264. That would lead me to believe that a VP9 video that is less than half the size as an h.264 video, although a better codec, is still inferior in quality. If anyone disagrees with this, please explain so I can determine which codec to use.
On a similar note, any idea if there will be higher bitrate VP9 content forthcoming. For that matter, how about AV1?
