Netflix Netflix Dolby Vision downloads show purple and green tints

Dolby Vision files from Netflix have purple and green tints. The colors are not accurate. How do I download movies that have accurate colors? (e.g., Non-Dolby vision movies). Alternatively, how do I encode (convert) Dolby Vision files to true colors?

You can change to a different video codec setting to get non-DolbyVision files. You can find the option under Settings > VIP Services > Netflix Settings > Video Codec

Please note that to get the accurate colors for Dolby Vision or HDR10, you need a combination of hardware and playback software that support these files. Alternatively, some software will do what is called Tone Mapping in real time and will display that content on non-compatible hardware.

If you don't know if your hardware/software supports it, you are better off using H264 or H265 - SDR. H264 should work on all devices and H265 you need a bit more modern hardware.

HDR10 and Dolby Vision are very similar but the latter is proprietary.

Software that can do HDR Tone Mapping (Not DV) include:

• Kodi
• Plex
• MPC-HC
• PotPlayer

I am sure there are plenty more but those are the ones that come to mind.

Although very good, tone mapping tends to make things a little dim. So if you don't have the hardware, then stick to H264 or H265 SDR
