Not a StreamFab Issue DRM module fails on Netzkino.de movies

    Hey,

www.netzkino.de is a provider of German movies (for most of them, no payment is necessary, or even an account). But I cannot get Streamfab's DRM module to start analyzing a movie.

Can please one of your developers look into this?

Here's a number of movies that play if you connect from Germany:

Ein blinder Held – Die Liebe des Otto Weidt von Regisseur Kai Christiansen mit Henriette Confurius, Julia Goldberg, Uwe Bohm. Jetzt streamen bei Netzkino.

Just hit the "Jetzt kostenlos anschauen"... it has different types of commercials once started (start roll, overlay commercials that ask you to click a button)...

Would be great to have Streamfab work with netzkino.

    Cheers

netzkino.de is not listed at Youtube Downloader supported sites..
    .. so it's a wish for adding - so it's a feature request: here

netzkino.de use no DRM - you can get mp4 url in Developer Tools of your browser

        Open the website i.e. www.netzkino.de/filme/die-tochter
Press Control+Shift+I (or "Hamburger Menu" 3 dots top right - More Tools - Developer tools)
In Developer tools click on Network and Filter = mp4
Press site button "Jetzt kostenlos schauen"
In Developer tools Rightclick the mp4 - Open in new tab (or Copy - Copy link Address)

Click image for larger version Name:	netzkino_url.jpg Views:	0 Size:	132.9 KB ID:	434426

or in Firefox: Extras - Seiteninformation - Medien (scroll down) - Speichern unter

Germania is correct in what he wrote. Netkino.de is not currently supported by StreamFab even though those are non-DRM files. Germania gave good instructions for the basic level retrieval of the files using the Developer Tools. If you want to try two programs that specialize in non-DRM files and save you the trouble of doing all the work yourself, I would try Tubedigger or IDM (Internet Download Manager), Although they don't directly compete with StreamFab I don't think it would be ethical to post their web addresses on the StreamFab forum. You can Google them if you want. They are pay programs but reasonable for what you get. I was able to download the first film using both without any problem.
There is also another free program that makes things easier. It is called The Stream Detector. It can figure out the URL for the file's CDN and places it in various command forms including for yt-dlp. I use it often for non-DRM files but unfortunately, and I don't know why, it would not come up with a URL for the CDN this time. A rarity. Perhaps because I was using a VPN to Germany?

Stream Detector works for streams (explains the name) HLS, DASH, HDS and MSS Streams
But netzkino doesn't use m3u8 or mpd, just mp4

InternetDownloadManager works - but i think it's not free (30 day trial)

But there a many add-ons like

You are correct. I should have checked closer but adding in The Stream Detector was an afterthought. I believe Jack favors that method. He's recommended it here on the forum several times.

Yes, IDM is a pay program as I noted. As you said, there are many add-ons and straight programs. I feel like I've tried most of them over time. Tubedigger and IDM are my two favorites. They work well and that's why I recommended them.

Downloading with ANT, Cat Catch, Video DownloadHelper or the network section of DEV tools works fine.

It is true The Stream Detector doesn't show anything unless you disable this:

you might try right clicking on the video and see if you can select "save video as"
to download the video as MP4. there's a setting in firefox to enable right clicking or you can use a browser extension.

Jack, I knew you would come up with a solution. Like I said, I only initially was going to test with Tubedigger and IDM but then I thought of you and your fondness for The Stream Detector. When it failed I just moved on except for the mentioning of its name.

October, so simple. It makes sense after Germania pointed out that they were just MP4s. Sometimes you get in a habit of doing something one way and you miss the obvious right in front of your nose. If StreamFab can't handle a certain non-DRM video I immediately load up Tubedigger or IDM as an alternative. If I had been paying attention I would have noticed that they were MP4s just sitting there ripe for the taking.

Yes the first thing you should always try is right-click and save video as... But it doesn't always work even for non-drm'd videos. This is really to stump non-tech people. I actually do that on my wife's website since 95% of her clientele is old ladies. It's simply adding the attribute
                        Code:
                        controlsList="nodownload"
to the HTML5 video. It can also be done in jwplayer and several other web players.

In any case, there are a gazillion ways to get those videos but StreamFab isn't one of them because there is no real manifest to download or DRM to remove.
