From Direct Downloader To Screen Recorder

As suggested a while back, I downgraded to 6.1.6.7 to get the last direct downloader version since, to my understanding, anything after that uses screen recording.

I already went with the competition, and the Amazon support was great, despite having to deal with a few glitches. Putting a hold on fixing those was understandably so, because they are still dealing with DRM issues related to the other streaming platforms.

Yet, I keep hoping that StreamFab gets back to being a direct downloader when it was then the best for what I used it for.

disney -> dead but still works with old stuff from before the end of april i guess
amazon -> dead no longer works with new and old stuff
mpd/m3u8 -> wasn't really working even before that

to be honest, i'm not really interested in the rest. i even have my own tool for the last one

streamfab is simply no longer worth using

any screen recorder is better than the shit from streamfab and the downloads don't work
i advise everyone not to invest in streamfab anymore.

Now StreamFab is just a piece of shit. Don't buy the StreamFab series anymore because they don't want to fix it anymore. They just want to reduce costs and further increase their net profit by turning it into a video recording software!:mad:

Wilson, you're out of time and certainly out of excuses. Stop lying. And stop pretending that you'll actually do anything to resolve it if anyone starts yet another thread for yet another problem. Everyone here knows better.

Even you must realize that every day you fail to deliver on all your empty promises, you lose all credibility. Even you must realize that every day your competitor has a working direct downloader and StreamFab doesn't, the ridiculous claim that "we are still working for the DRM problem" shows just how inept and clearly incapable you are at achieving that task.

That it's now four months after the January DRM shakeup - that you knew was going to happen four months in advance - should be a source of shame to you and whoever your so-called developer is. The only work that individual is doing is laboring under the delusion that they can resolve this. Stop indulging them, fire them, and get an actual CDM decrypting expert.

How much revenue have you lost at this point because all you can offer is downloading for Disney+, since according to reports in this forum, the M3U8 Downloader isn't functioning? (And why don't you know that?) I'd be willing to bet you can't make that amount back by slapping yet another porn module onto what's now an overpriced and poorly working screen recorder.

First of all, thank you for the response.

However, I'm using version 6.1.6.7, and in this version, things are working less and less. As long as the screen recorder + encode mode is available, I refuse to update.

I've already created a Disney+ thread. I've also mentioned somewhere that there should be a version again with just the download mode or at least where one can deactivate it themselves (suggestion from another user).

I'm a fan of quality, and the screen record + encode mode doesn't provide that quality. Even if you believe it's exactly the same as a direct download, it's not!!

With a screen record, the quality often suffers. And when the video is additionally encoded, the quality is further diminished.

It's been mentioned many times that Amazon has already fixed the competition after 1-2 weeks. So, me and many others don't understand why this is still an issue? Shouldn't the focus be on Amazon first, to quickly find a solution so that we don't fall so far behind?

New modules are nice and all, but in the current situation, more resources should be allocated to fixing the problems. These new modules leave a bitter taste.

While I agree with your sentiments, But I have to say that if you stay on an older StreamFab version, yes things will work less and less as Streaming Provider's web sites change. If I stuck with AS 1.7.2.0 for example, it would be broken and not working properly too.

I mean I understand your desire to stay on that version to avoid re-encoding, but you're choosing to do so also means you are accepting the risk of other stuff breaking if/when the streaming providers make changes on their sties as the older version of SF wont be able to account for.

I'm not trying to excuse FAB but you say Disney+ is broken. While it may be with an OLDER version you have decided to stick with, using StreamFab 6.1.7.7, Disney+ does download, even for current titles, without re-encoding. "Analyzing video URL" phase before getting the download selection dialog can take a little time, but this isn't new, it was always took a few moments. Today I downloaded The Beatles: Let It Be. It completed successfully as 720p, H265, E-AC-3 JOC 768kb/s 6channel (DD+ with Atmos). Download speed reported by SF on the progress screen was bouncing between 27.7 MB/s and 33.15 MB/s . After clicking Start Download, it was completed in under 2 minutes. No re-encoding. May the 12th Be With You (Simpsons) also downloaded as expected. As did Wish.

Yes, I usually download Hulu content using the Hulu download modules (because it gave 1080p/4K), so I can't comment on if Hulu content via the Disney+ module works in 6.1.7.7. For a test, I downloaded The Old Way since its under Hulu on D+. It came down as 720p/h265/EAC3 256kb/s.

To be honest, there isn't much I've been downloading lately. Amazon stuff I do with AS because I had purchased a license for that a long time ago. I let my Netflix subscription lapse because I wasn't watching.

At this point, StreamFab is a trade off.

Either Stick with an older version that downloads some content from Amazon and Netflix but will break as Amazon is continuing to make changes on their end (As has had to make quick fixes to deal with it), and will break as other streaming providers make tweaks.

OR update to the latest StreamFab and deal with re-encoding, and some updates that handle recent changes from the streaming provider side.

With all due respect, its been MONTHS with no apparent progress, little to no communication, volunteer forum mods unable to help the situation and quitting their post due to what they saw as a failed sense of urgency on FAB's part.

After four months, the "temporary solution" is feeling more and more permanent.

Just read many of the threads, you can see how angry, dissatisfied, upset, and more, your customers base is becoming.

Can you give us an ETA, this is May already, and it has been broken since January, and it took you weeks or months to make it into a screen recorder, the sad part is, it's not even the best screen recorder out there. I have been telling friends and others that Fab is a great tool for many years, even before this forum was started, but now they are laughing at me. This is a sad state of affairs, and somehow it all it all turned around when Fengtao disappeared and the new development team took over. Fab's reputation has been seriously doubted, and if it takes much longer, I think it will be beyond repair.

Glad to hear that. It's been crickets here (meaning very quiet, all you can hear are crickets) regarding the DRM problem, so it's somewhat reassuring to be told by DVDFab personnel that it is still being worked.

Others may still retain the ability to be nice. I'm afraid that well ran dry with me. I tend to speak my mind, especially when provoked. Some appreciate and respect this, others are offended by it or fear it. It is what it is.

We've been hearing this for months. Well, when we do year anything at all.

I don't have the Disney+ module. Don't want it. Why on earth would I when the solution I now use completely negates buying separate modules? The four I use, Amazon Prime, Paramount+, Disney+ and YouTube all come with it stock. In addition for less than the four separate barely functional SF modules would cost me. No, they don't support all the weird stuff so maybe that's your niche now. If you can't run with the big dogs stay on the porch.

SF would cost me $124.97 for just ONE month for the first three on that list. Add another $19.99 insult for YouTube. I paid just a few dollars more than the three modules for all four of the streaming services I use for a two year license and they quite simply work as advertised.Yes they are still fighting with Netflix but they're honest about it. Up front no less, no obfuscation!

I've grown tired of empty promises and substandard crippleware. Then instead of focusing ALL EFFORT on cracking the DRM I can now PAY $54.99 a month for a NEW module to watch Japanese people bone each other? I don't know what they call it where you are, I guess they are just called businessmen there but here in the US when someone takes money for something they can't deliver they're called something very different and it is not at all flattering.

It says a lot when the two people who bent over backwards to support your software of their own volition are now among those of us who are fed up.

The competition had Amazon, MAX and Peacock cracked within weeks of the January CDM revocation - are we seriously expected to believe that they have somehow managed to employ the only developers and programmers on the planet who can decrypt these DRMS, leaving poor SF with no one to hire?

Or are we supposed to buy that that SF actually has an in-house developer and a programming team who really can decrypt them - but it's somehow just taken thousands and thousands of hours over the past 4 months . . . and they still haven't managed to pull it off? This "we're dogged but just really, really, really inept" scenario is actually even more embarassing than the first one, since if it's true, then the gang who couldn't decrypt straight should have been fired months ago, along with whoever authorized them to keep on drilling a dry hole, rather than hiring people who actually know how to accomplish the task.

The funniest thing is the login issue with Google accounts on third-party websites other than YouTube, which took several years and has not been resolved yet. Recently, I have tried YT Saver, iTubeGo, and VidJuice UniTube, and all three software have solved this problem. Everything is normal and will not be intercepted by Google prompts!:mad:

I think we'd be better off if it was a screen recorder. It's not even that right now. Upconverting is the worst possible solution for where we're at.
