Using StreamFab 6.2.1.1 (Canada), and frankly, every version prior, this module just seems to outright refuse to download the sites' ass/ssa formatted subtitles. The downloads insist on giving me srt format subtitles, with obvious formatting limitations and errors, often making them difficult to read. A competing software suite was able to grab the expected subtitles but is now having Crunchyroll login/verification problems so is no longer of any use.
This is not specific to any one series.
Been fighting this issue for a very long time and have so far, not found a remedy via tech support. The tickets have been closed despite not being solved, so now I am trying the board. :)
I have tried each conceivable variation of the subtitles settings that I can see, wiped logs and temp folders, uninstalled, reinstalled and rolled back versions, used both online and offline setups. It does not make a difference whether I have selected "remux into file", "extract original" or (obviously) "extract to srt". Changing "always download forced subtitle" or changing pre-select... doesn't seem to make any difference whatsoever. Please refer to included screenshots.
Apologies for this long post. Any assistance is appreciated. TIA

Below is how the above setting outputs the file, noting the plain-text subtitle

With different options selected

The bottom two files are how the "extract original format" turns out

The in-app browser plays and shows how I would expect the subtitles to work

But then the output file invariably ends up like this
