StreamFab for Windows Persistent popup windows

In version 6.2.5.2, what's with the persistent popup windows?

They're appearing on StreamFab launch and also possibly when checking for scheduled downloads when SF is closed, but there's one and sometimes two pop-up windows. Both are incorrect. One tells me that my version is too old, even though it's current. The second is an ad, trying to sell me SF for HBO Max and SF All-in-One, even though I already own and have both installed.

I don't get them. So, not sure why one person does and another don't.

Do they come back after closing streamfab and then starting streamfab again?

But either way, I don't think there is a way to turn them off, other than try closing them and/or streamfab and then restart it.

Stan001 I haven't been keeping track of when they appear. I just tried restarting SF and then also choosing Restart for the computer and launching SF. In neither case did the windows appear. I think it's possible it's happening when SF is checking Scheduled downloads, possibly when SF isn't open. (I'm not sure how it normally handles scheduled items, though, whether it checks only when SF is running or checks regardless.) And because my PC is kept running 24hrs/day, it's possible they're simply opening during idle time. BTW, SF is not set to automatically launch on startup.

The persistence part is odd. The window for "you have an old version" was still onscreen after SF closed. And when I closed it, the second window trying to sell me more SF software replaced it. Unless someone else has an idea, I suspect only the developers can answer why and when these pop-ups are appearing. I'll probably submit a Support Ticket.

It could be the scheduled downloads, as I never scheduled downloads. And you came up with the best idea: to contact SF support. I think several members (maybe more) have been having overall issues with scheduled downloads. I can see its use if people download episodes from several different providers. I get shows from Amazon, and what happens is when one show is on break, another soon starts up, and I just wait till Friday and download the 5 episodes manually for that week, and most times it's only one show as the others are on break. Then one goes on break, and another starts more episodes. I have seen people have way too many issues with newer versions and scheduled downloads to where they even disappear from streamfab but stay in Task Scheduler.

But even you can confirm it's not happening when a user starts SF manually. I did recall after again looking at your screenshot, I had it once, I think it was after doing a full clean of SF, similar to a clean installation. But it went away and never came back. Mine, I think, wanted me to get the Fandango Downloader, and I also have access to all modules already. I never though seen the "you have an old version", but I know what members to fully trust and know that SF, in an unusual move, disabled pretty much any version older than 6247.

And for $10, I am not happy now with their extended download with missing versions.

Stan001 After the difficulty I've occasionally had in locating older SF versions, I've been doing a Save As when downloading every new version into a special SF Versions folder--just in case. Looks like you've been doing it a lot longer than I have, though.

I always keep prior install version in a 'downloads' folder on my Z:drive and have Chrome set to save there for me. Helps a lot for rollbacks.

I can now replicate the problem, but it no longer matters. I discovered that I have two versions installed: one old one (see screenshot) and the current one. When exiting current StreamFab, it was moving its icon to the System Tray. If I relaunched from there, it was then launching the old, outdated version. Hence, the error message. I hesitated to uninstall the old version by clicking Uninstall.exe in its folder because I was afraid it would trash the new one. So I simply dragged the old version's folder to the Recycle Bin. So far, 6.2.5.3 seems to be behaving properly.

This also explains why no one else was seeing this problem or the pop-up windows. Thank you all for your responses, though. I appreciate it!

I too have experienced the module popup, though only once. For me it was Hulu, which I already have, and appeared during the startup window that shows all the modules. I think it was on version 6249 or 6250.

I don't do scheduled downloads, but using an older version of SF maybe a factor. Occasionally I lose all my logins, and installing an older version (like two or three version back) seems to fix it, then I upgrade when the new version is out. I don't recall exactly when in my process I saw it, but I'm sure I installed another version after seeing it.
