SF 6243 exits with "This version is too old" message

I've been using SF 6243 since the next few versions were failing for me with Max. Trying to run SF today I get a notice about needing to authorise it (??), which I ignored. It then loaded SF (and picked up the licence) but as soon as it loaded, I got a message saying "This version is too old. Update to continue" and it exited.

    I've got several questions ...

Is the activation server working fine ATM?

Is it a design feature that SF will shut down if you try to run a "too old" version? Or is something screwy going on?

Has anyone successfully used recent versions with Max?

it's simple...this version is too old...
NEVER use the update function within Streamfab. Always download the offline file!

there should be no reason to run a version that old, older versions are eventually decommistioned.
does the latest version 6.2,5,0 not work for MAX ??

I know it's outdated, but I've never had Sf refuse to run before because it was outdated. Is this normal behaviour or is something going wrong?

I don;t know if 6250 works with max .. that was one of my questions. 6244 & 6245 did NOT work with max (at least for me), which is why I stayed with 6243, which worked perfectly.

they only support older versions for so long.

I've got 6249 working fine with Max/US, not tried 6250 yet as don't need the changes in that version (yet)...

Well, now you can wait until 6251 comes out, it can't be long now... I advise against using the updater to jump from 6243 to 6251... It will only cause chaos. Reinstall it cleanly.

Ok .. so it's expected behaviour. I'd just not run into it before.

I can wait until 6251 comes out .. there have been some posts here & on reddit about issues with 6250. Anything new on max between now and when 6251 comes out will still be available after all.

I've currently only got a max subscription and when 6244 and 6245 both failed for me with max, I rolled back to 6243 and stayed there as it worked fine for me. I noticed 0xFeedBeef is also sitting on an older SF version .. just not as old as I am. Someone on reddit said 6250 works with max for them, so 6250 is an option if I dont want to wait.

And I usually use the offline installer, not the updater.

I can confirm that all SF versions < 6247 are no longer usable

This was already the case in the past, where old versions (old SF API)
were deactivated - but never so many at once - see also here

I updated mine to 6.2.5.1 and it won't even open now. It's completely broken. It instant says "error sent do you want to restart", and it never works. After about 5 tries I see nothing but a black rectangle when streamfab loads and it never finishes loading.

I uninstalled and reinstalled and it's doing the same thing.

Try to rename your cache (if SF closed) - like here

If this don't work for you try the same with full SF temp

Please note that you need re-login for all provider

                      > It's completely broken

Amazon, Max, Netflix, YT - All providers tested so far work for me.

Did you really remove all remnants of the old version?

It's the software that's broken for me, not the streaming providers. I can't even get the software to open or start up anymore. So far I have tried 3 uninstalls and reinstalls.

EDIT: I uninstalled with revo and wiped the windows registry. This got it to work again.

I guess you didnt look at the options. MAX does not exist anymore. It turned into HBO MAX, Max is old news.

Upgraded to 6250 and I was able to download two movies, but every series episode I've tried gives a "failure starting download, please contact us for help" error. Anyone else encountered this? Any suggestions? With all the series episodes I tried, I tried to dl individual episodes, not whole seasons.

And I upgraded via the offline installer.
