[QUOTE=reeman50;87383]Pardon my ignorance, but I neither know what a CUDA driver or Ntune is.
Whatever Ntune is, I do not think that I have it installed to subsequently be uninstalled.
I am only able to use the special Nvidia drivers which came with my display card (which has an overclocking option which BTW I do not use) under all three operating systems, and uninstalling them for anything other than an emergency (which this is not) is definitely not for anyone who is of a nervous disposition such as myself.
Thanking you all for the helpful advice, but I will wait to see what work around you might come up with, before deciding to risk an unstable system for the next few days as has already happened on more than one occasion when I did experiment with some of the later generic drivers with disastrous consequences.
I have therefore adopted a policy of allowing working graphic drivers to lie, or not trying to fix something which isn't already badly broken.
Thanks again,

Taken from the Nvidia Website.
CUDA⢠is a general purpose parallel computing architecture introduced by NVIDIA that enables the GPU to solve complex computational problems. It includes the CUDA Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) and the parallel compute engine in the GPU. To program to the CUDA⢠architecture, developers can, today, use C, one of the most widely used high-level programming languages, which can then be run at great performance on a CUDA⢠enabled processor. Other languages will be supported in the future, including FORTRAN and C++.
Ntune or Nvidia System Tools-
NVIDIA System Tools installation package adds support for GTX 480 and GTX 470 and it includes the following components:
1. NVIDIA Performance Group (v6.05.26.05) add-on to the NVIDIA Control Panel
â¢GeForce GPUs
â Enables GPU overclocking
â¢nForce MCPs
â Enables system tuning and profiles for clocks, voltages, timings, and fans
â Includes support for Enthusiast System Architecture (ESA) components
â Displays detailed system information
2. NVIDIA System Monitor (v6.05.25.05) standalone application
â¢GeForce GPUs
â Enables GPU temperature monitoring
â¢nForce MCPs
â Enables system monitoring for clocks, voltages, timings, and fans
â Includes support for Enthusiast System Architecture (ESA) components
3. NVIDIA System Update (v3.00.17.00) add-on to the NVIDIA Control Panel
â¢Automatically checks for nForce and GeForce driver updates
â¢Adds ability to update your system bios
â¢Includes support to update firmware of Enthusiast System Architecture (ESA) components
Sometimes not updating drivers will cause problems down the road. It's always best to stay up to date and can easily be down graded if you do have issues.
