Unfortunately my earlier problem with all QT versions not working under Windows XP SP3 continues with the recent DVDFab 8.0.9.5 Qt Beta. The installer still takes much longer than it should to complete, but once installed it cannot be launched to appear on the desktop. It is running OK in Task manager, but killing the process does not make any visible difference to the end result. Up to a dozen copies of DVDFab.exe running in task manager from repeated frustrating attempts to finally get this program working again, beyond the non Qt version 8.0.8.5. And the uninstaller still hangs until all incidences of DVDFab.exe are first removed from task manager. So it looks to me that if this beta was intended to fix the problem which I have been having now since the QT versions were first introduced, but only happening under Windows XP Professional SP3 with all of the latest updates (they work flawlessly under Vista and Windows 7 Ultimate Editions, both with the latest service packs), that I will be sticking with the last stable non Qt version for some considerable time yet. I would not classify my total inability to use your otherwise excellent software under XP SP3 as being a minor issue, if that is what was implied by it not being listed separately in the program history under fixes or improvements. Am I the only person on this forum who feels that it is effectively the end of the line for any systems which are affected by this problem (not all are by any means) in trying to run any version of DVDFab later than the non Qt 8.0.8.5 under Windows XP SP3? reeman50 :(

Pardon my ignorance, but I neither know what a CUDA driver or Ntune is. Whatever Ntune is, I do not think that I have it installed to subsequently be uninstalled. I am only able to use the special Nvidia drivers which came with my display card (which has an overclocking option which BTW I do not use) under all three operating systems, and uninstalling them for anything other than an emergency (which this is not) is definitely not for anyone who is of a nervous disposition such as myself. Thanking you all for the helpful advice, but I will wait to see what work around you might come up with, before deciding to risk an unstable system for the next few days as has already happened on more than one occasion when I did experiment with some of the later generic drivers with disastrous consequences. I have therefore adopted a policy of allowing working graphic drivers to lie, or not trying to fix something which isn't already badly broken. Thanks again, reeman50 :o

It's always best to stay up to date and can easily be down graded if you do have issues.

My video card is AMD HD6850. I tried as follows but result is nothing change. 1. Uninstall ATI display driver DVDFab not start up/display! 2. Uninstall DVDFab8.0.9.2QT 3. Install DVDFab8.0.9.5betaQT DVDFab not start up/display! 4. Install ATI display driver DVDFab not start up/display! I gave up and running at compatibility mode.

I see you have a 6 core AMD system also, I have had this problem with DVDFAB back to early versions of 8 when I upgraded to my 1090T. It is something between Fab and the AMD 6 cores! I can remove and reinstall my 4 core and all is good. Have to keep changing between compatibility modes to rum with each version. I have 4 systems here and my 1090T is the only one with issues. Have reformatted and reinstalled and upgraded all windows. Have done twice 1 with my 470 nvidia card and once with my 4870 amd card same issue. Just having windows fab and image-burn on system after fresh install. Have been with DVDFAB since version 5, Now because at the moment I have some business software that will not run under windows 7 and I really do not want to upgrade to 7. And installing blu-ray will probably end up changing to something besides FAB. They keep upgrading which is good but at same time breaking what has always worked in the process.

I also have a 1090T and it doesn't work I haven't got any version for QT working on my system with Windows XP SP3. I just recently installed the 1090T. Before that, I had a Phenom X3 720. I can't go back to the tri-core since I need the six core for video processing. I hope they can get it to work with the six core processors and Windows XP SP3.

I had same problem with getting the new version to run and I have a NVIDIA card as well. After trying all of the tips with no luck I reinstalled Windows XP Pro SP3 and my NVIDIA drivers then installed the new QT version and it ran with no problems. It was not a lot of work to do as I use this machine as a dedicated machine for DVDFab alone.

...and many of us are running XP and are having no problems with the QT versions. I don't know what is causing the problem for some XP users but I'm also running Nvidia drivers and that's not causing a problem for me either. Something else must be the villain.

Something else on your system has obviously changed since the previous version failed to launch.

Do you have any ideas as to what this change might have been, as it could be the culprit we are all waiting for someone to find?

Problems running DVDFab QT versions under XP SP3 solved

My computer's graphics card is an MSI nVidia T2D512-OC

After just having posted to this forum I finally gave in to the many suggestions that this problem could be graphics related, and updated the XP nVidia drivers to version 6.14.12.5896 (258.96) 9/07/2010.

Now DVDFab QT version 8.1.0.0 launches and so far (these are early days) acts exactly the same as it does under Vista and Windows 7 Ultimate Editions.

I am just hoping that as has already happened several times in the past, solving this problem has not unknowingly produced several new ones to take its place.

But for the purposes of this thread I now regard this matter as closed, and once again thank you all for your advice and patience with someone who has discovered the hard way that having the latest version of any software installed is NOT always an improvement.

I did an uninstall of the latest ATI driver, followed by a re-boot for effect. It DID NOT like the change AT ALL.....tried to crash, then re-installed a previous driver on it's own.

This previous driver, when used, was also a failure. But, after re-installing the NON-QT old version (which also had started to fail to launch), it successfully opened. (Yeah! progress!).

After opening, the query popped up to update. That's when I noticed the 8.1.0.0 was available. Answering 'Yes' to update, the install completed with a successfull launch.

I don't know if I just stumbled into it or not, as the current driver was also problematic with the previous QT versions. Now it's not. :rolleyes:

DVDFab won't open on XP SP3

I have a T61 Lenovo laptop, XP SP3 and NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140 display adapter built in. I downloaded the latest DVDLab last yesterday as well as the reduced one that is always free and neither will start. Runs fine in a Toshiba running Vista (same download image) but I don't run Vista every day. There must be some design assumption that conflicts with some driver. Too bad since it's a nice program.

Still no luck with new QT version

I haven't been able to run any QT version since launch. I have Windows XP Home with SP3, using ATI drivers and a 1090T six-core.

For a short time, I was able to get the non-QT version working but that was short-lived.

As of now, I can't run either the non-QT or QT. Very frustrating.

Solution to running QT with high graphics card.

Guys, stop re-installing madness!! I have a AMG Phenom II processor and a new 1G graphics driver also, and here is the solution to running QT DVDFAB: RIGHT CLICK desktop DVDFAB icon, then select PROPERTIES, then select COMPATABILITY, then select RUN IN 256 COLORS. Presto.

I tried the 256 colors suggestion and it gets as far as the Welcome screen but then when I click on Start DVDfab, nothing happens. I can see the process running but that's it.

If you still have startup problem with latest version of DVDFab Qt, please try to import the registry file "fabplay.reg" in attachment, then run DVDFab again to see the result.

I've seen it work on 2 XP SP3 machines with the registry fix. Thanks to whomever figured this out. XP is still 60% of the machines out here.

I've had a problem getting Fab 8100 to install on a machine that has an older ATI capture card in it. (All-in-Wonder Radeon 8500DV) I sent Fab the failed install report as requested. When I tried to uninstall to go back to Fab 8098 I got another uninstall error which I also sent the report back to Fab. After cleaning registers, etc., I was able to reinstall 8098. I suspect after reading through this thread that it may be an ATI graphics / driver problem. But, before I assume that, I'm curious as to any commonalities Fab may have noticed. Any comments or speculation on that?

Installed the register fix and then installed Fab ver. 8101 beta. No errors. Performed hard restart and again launched ver. 8101 and still NO errors! Note: did not try to install 8100 after doing the reg fix. Conclusion; the register fix seems to have circumvented the problem. Very interesting! In any event, looks like the few folks that have this problem can certainly try this register importation as a possible/probable fix. Seems to have worked like a charm here at least on this one machine that has had the same symptoms as others have had. Kudos to the author of this "fabplay.reg" fix! (BTW, forgot to mention this but, this particular machine, not the one in my signature below, has NOT been upgraded to SP3 yet! Just SP2, my bad! Makes me wonder if it's even a SP3 issue!?!) :confused:
