As I think I mentioned in my BSOD Memory Management thread, I’ve had several problems with Ripper and DVDFab Copy 12 for many months including general Windows crashes, inability to enter a comment in the DVDFab crash dialog, and the timer freezing during a rip (even though the process was still continuing). This is a new one, though.On many rips using MKV passthrough, the audio is not in synch. What’s weird is: so far, it doesn’t seem to affect movies ripped with the same settings—just episodes from TV discs, andthe same episodes COPIED to a blank DVD using the Customize option and ensuring that the selected episodes’ combined size doesn’t exceed that of the disc (that is, there is NO compression), the new discs don’t exhibit this problem. The audio and video are perfectly synced. i don’t know how widespread this issue is, but I can see it affected every ripped episode of the US series “Shameless.” I’m particularly concerned because I just finished ripping all (hundreds) of my DVDs to be streamed with Plex.

The last day I've tried to rip individual fights from my husband's UFC Collection and the audio is also out of sync by about 1 second.It plays fine watching the entire disc copied/cloned, but if I want to go grab a specific fight, it's off.And I've tried 4 different DVD's from different time periods.

BTW, I ripped 8 of the seasons of Shameless several months ago, and they all seem to have this issue. I haven’t seen this in the ripped episodes of other series, so perhaps this issue is specific to certain types of DVDs. When I get the time, I’ll sample some of the many others I ripped during the past four months.

I have to amend my original post. It isn't restricted to just TV episodes. I just ripped the movie The Mist with version 12.0.5.1, and its audio is also out of sync.Also, in ripping Season 1, Disc 3 of the US version of Shameless today, audio for all episodes was out of sync (whether done individually or collectively for the movie version of all 4 episodes, but --strangely-- the Deleted Scenes were in perfect sync.

Anyone else experiencing audio sync issues when doing passthrough rips (in addition to Hawkgirl70) or regular crashes when using the Copy (Customize) feature? I have an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (3GB), Intel I7 processor, 16GB of system RAM, Windows 10 v. 21H1, and am running DVDFab x64 v. 12.0.5.1.

I just finally realized about 30 minutes ago I still had version 10 and 11 in a "Retired Software Folder" that I keep all my old stuff in on an external hard drive.I just finished reloading Version 11 and am doing a DVD Clone.Once finished, then going to try and rip a specific episode to see if it works and is in sync.I'll post my results shortly.

My results for what I posted above this one.....With DVD FAB 11, I was able to successfully rip individual episodes from the DVD Clone.Everything was synched, looked and sounded great.So I guess this is my work around for ripping files of older tv shows on older, released DVD's.

Dropping back to 11.1.0.7 fixed the issue for the first movie DVD that I tried that had been having audio sync issues on 12. Will see how the others fare. I'll keep a copy of 11 just in case until the issue is resolved in 12+.

Update - Dropping back to 11.1.0.7 worked for all three of the movies I had that version 12 had issues with.

I'm having the same problem with audio out of sync when using mkv.passthrough. Using the latest version: DVDFab12 64x, 12.0.7.5. All of the same symptoms described by other users here. Problem occurs regardless of whether GPU is enabled or disabled. Hope this is fixed soon -- seems like it's been a problem for a long time. When I use a competing product to create an MKV where the audio and video are simply passed through, there is no problem. So my work around is to use that other product, but I would prefer to use DVDFab since I'm a longtime, loyal user and like the program.

Has anyone tried v12.0.8.1 for DVD Ripper MKV Passthrough to see if the audio sync issues have been resolved for them? I didn't see it in any of the changelogs since 12.0.7.7 but thought I would try this version before going back to the last v11 release.

I tried it on one particular track that was less than 13 minutes long and was animated, and as far as I can tell for that one track the audio synced up just fine.

Going to (now) test it on other titles for this disc and (later) a longer movie to see if maybe this has finally been resolved...

Follow-up to previous (using same disc):

Titles that have a small runtime (e.g. under 13 minutes) the sync issue is negligable - at least on animation.

But longer titles (e.g. 22 min), there is a noticeable sync issue. Even a split-second difference is all it takes to ruin the watching experience.

So to sum up:

DF 12.0.8.1 still has an audio sync issue when ripping titles using the Ripper module for DVDs and using the profile of Theater (MKV.passthrough).

DF 11.1.0.7 does not have this impairment.

It appears that not all of the disks I ripped have sync problems. There's just a handful.

I tried the first suggestion with one of the discs that was out of sync but after switching everything to software, but the results were the same.

I then installed 11.1.0.7 and it fixed the problem. No more sync issue. It seems I'll stick with this build and appreciate the suggestion.

I'm happy to provide whatever is needed in order for the issue with 12.x to be fixed.

I reported this version 12 Ripper issue a year ago (in three days). My guess is that it isn't going to be fixed, so sticking with 11--at least for MKV Passthrough rips--is the only solution. As an alternative, you can try other DVDFab 12's ripping options. Of the ones I tested, only MKV Passthrough had the audio synch issue (see my 12-02-2021 post in this thread for the results).

@Mona If the developers are still considering fixing this issue, I found a recent DVD that might point them in the right direction: "Emily the Criminal." Even 11 in MKV Passthrough mode fails miserably. At best, in 11's ripped version, the audio is at least 5 seconds out of synch. I suggest they check this DVD in particular because it's the only one I've found where 11 fails to rip it properly.

Does anyone know if the DVD Ripper / MKV audio synch issue in version 12 has been fixed in version 13? I fell back to version 11 over a year ago and haven't kept up with the discussion.

I was told that it wouldn’t be fixed in 12. So I keep copies of both 11 and 13 on my PC. Version 11 still works fine for ripping current content. I haven’t really experimented with 13, though. Perhaps I’ll try ripping some of the problematic DVDs and see what happens. I’ll post the results here.

FYI: Only the Passthrough setting in 12 had issues with audio sync.

The audio is still horribly out of sync. I did not, however, also test with UniFab enabled because I don't own it. If you or anyone else has UniFab, it may be worth checking to see if it corrects this issue.

For the discs that give you the sync problem, you may try
1. copy video + compress audio

2. compress video + audio

I rip as PASSTHROUGH to .m2ts structure.

Sync fails badly with Harry Potter Deathly Hollows, both parts 1 and 2.

Downgrading to 11.1.0.07 is the fix for the audio sync problem.
What is real annoying now: DVD Fab has known about this bug all through the numerous v12 releases, and now into v13, and it is not fixed.
Look at the v11 code... it works properly.

I downgraded from 13 back to 11.1.0.07, and this is a big improvement.
However... v11 still has the problem with REDS 2.
I had to advance the audio about 1.0 second to get close to the lip sync.

There is a fundamental and long running bug in DVD Fab that remains unresolved.
