Thanks Ninko. Yes, I'll report it as well. It might make no difference but I always think that the more people that report something (especially for a fairly niche website) the more chance there is that Streamfab will look into the issue.

I reported it and they just said to uninstall, delete the files, empty cache, reinstall, etc. But none of that fixed it.

Thanks Woowoo2. Yes, that's a fairly standard response from them to a lot of issues I've raised.

In fairness you could argue that they're trying to eliminate alternative possibilities but I'm hoping that if enough of us keep reporting this issue, then eventually they'll work on a fix.

so the work around seems to be to download a single file then to download using another downloader (I'm downloading from channel 4, for example) wait for the second download to complete, then to go back to the first site; and continue this dance till you've downloaded all you wanted.

PS: doesn't work if you just add a file to the dl list

PPS: literally as soon as I posted it, and having gone through ~16 episodes with no crashes, SF started crashing on every single one :confused:

As per the first post on this thread, I can sometimes add 2-3 downloads to a queue without it crashing in 6.2.2.9 but other times it crashes when I try to add a single download.

Each time I want to use u.co.uk I reinstall 6.2.2.1 and it lets me add as many downloads as I want without crashing.

Hopefully if enough of us report it, then they will find a fix but I'm going try @Wilson Wang just in case he's not aware of the issue and can do anything to help.

You can just install each iteration into its own directory, my structure is something like:

C:\Program Files\StreamFab\

The updater just checks whatever version you installed last

@Wilson.Wang , I observe similar: 6221 does not suffer from non-deterministic crashes, so whatever changed after that is the cause :)

Still not working for me. support said to update to latest version but exactly the same thing happens. So I’m guessing this ain’t ever gonna be fixed? Waste of bloody money!

U is stil working fine for me in version 6.2.2.1 but it crashed when I started adding to a queue when I went back to 6.2.2.8. I can see Germania's download screenshot above but for me, it sometimes lets me add one or two programmes to the queue before it crashes StreamFab.

Has anyone reported it?

You either need extended download service (usually an added $9.99), or what many users do is keep older versions.
You can even set aside a USB storage stick in at least 8, 16, 32, or 64 GB size. And dedicate it to saving older SF versions.

Thanks Stan, that’s a good idea to save them.

I don’t feel like paying any extra money because right now I feel like I’m not getting my money’s worth with StreamFab, because it never seems to be working properly. I’m getting sick of it.

At least one of the many admins or mods of the forum seems to object to users posting links to older SF versions, I am guessing because of the money.
They will probably pass it off as someone infecting them with a virus, yet on all SF versions, the checksums could be checked.

Yeah but the bottom line is we’re paying for a software that doesn’t work. Are they going to compensate us at all I wonder?

I now can't get 6.2.2.1 to work with U either. When I select a video, there's a pause and then I get a "Well This Is Embarrassing" message from the website and a button to refresh the video (which just leads to the same error).

I tried the same video in a different browser and it plays fine.

I tried U in 6.2.3.6 and managed to get 3 episodes added to a queue before StreamFab crashed (and I was then able to download them when I restarted StreamFab).

I see the same error

I thought it was because of the outdated Widevine CDM 2830
but for me 6220 still works after copy 4.10.2891.0
to SF subdir \cdm\widevinecdm before the start of SF

SF 6221 was the last release with Qt5 dlls .. (info Qt)
.. all newer releases uses Qt6 dlls - info e.g. Qt XML

Thanks @Germania. I tried 6222 but didn't think to go back to 6220 but that works perfectly with U.

Do you think this is the key to why the later versions crash

I'm pretty sure the "Crashing" is related to the upgrade to Qt6.

There is nothing to fix, because the problem is caused by u.co.uk - not SF.

I think there mpd are not fully XML compatible.

Please note that DRM MPD Downloader is no VIP service ..
.. it is universal and not individual and I have never had a crash of this downloader
with another provider, so the DRM MPD Downloader works without (Qt) problems.

Thanks @Germania. So what you're saying is there's not point sending reports/logs to StreamFab and the only hope is that eventually u.co.uk will update their website?

It's not the answer I was hoping for but at least it clears up the mystery and I have 6220 for the moment so I'll target the bits I wanted, as it's not a site I use very often.

Right, can somebody here please help me to understand why this shitty program STILL isn't working?!

They informed me weeks ago that "issue was known" and that they are "working on it." Well low and behold...it STILL isn't working.

I am so pissed off with it now because I am basically paying them for a service that's permanently broken!
