Fandango at Home has Issues with 4K Still

Fandango at Home has Issues with 4K still. Using the trick of scanning H264 then back to H265 4K does show.

I’ve found this issue on two titles Big and Mrs. Doubtfire.

Only movie I have an issue with for 4K on FandangoAtHome is BATTLE LA, where it says I have 4K, but unable to show 4K download available. Not big issue, really. Just adding note in case somebody trying to find commonality. All my other “you have 4K” movies downloaded okay. Sadly a lot of my old gen1 bluray purchases are only “you have HDX” as not 4K purchases.

simchris I own Battle LA and experience the same as you, no H264 to H265 because SF only finds 1 codec

Not that this helps OP, but on topic of “weirdness” in the Fandango module: I have an SD movie in my library purchased years ago that I found was also available to watch free in HDX. However, because I only own the SD veersion of the movie, when I try to download it in SF I can only get SD quality - no higher resolution is offered. It seems Fandango (or StreamFab?) limited my download for that title to resolution of the movie I owned, even though higher quality was avaialble free. (For the life of me I can’t remember or find the movie now out of the over 500 in my library. I’ve been grabbing a LOT of movies lately.)

I don’t know if anyone else encountered that (download was limited to their owned resolution if a free version in higher quality was avaialble) but to get around this limitation I thought for half a minute about creating a dummy account so I can login with that to grab the free HD version of the movie - but it wasn’t worth the effort.

With Fandango, there are free movies with ads and free to watch movies.
Free movies with ads don’t seem to even be offered in anything better than 1080p.
But that’s better than most other sites.
Free to watch, according to the Fandango website, many of them are offered in 4k.
But last I checked the free to watch do not show as available in 4k, in streamfab.
So don’t know if that’s a limitation of the Fandango website or streamfab.
Overall, not a big deal for those who purchased, as long as any purchased 4k download in 4k.
