Resident Alient - Season One - Disc 2 strange behaviour

Disc 1 went fine, but with Disc 2 it asks to select the region code.
I selected Region A (comes from Amazon.com, so figured that might be alright) and at first it seems it’s OK and done, but when I click the drive in File Explorer it will eject the disc and tells me to insert a disc.

The same happens when I select Region B (disc 1 shows German and French subtitles next to English, so figure I try that.
Same result.

Running the current version, 9.4.7.7.
I’ve attached the log relevant to this disc. Hope it can give some insight as to why this is happening.

Update: I restarted my computer, just in case, and now it detects it fine as Region B and opens fine too.
It sometimes happens that a reboot it needed, for whatever reason.
So hopefully the log can show something.

I do not know if this is related to the latest version, but I have to reboot my computer after every disc now, or I can’t open it.

Also noticed that since several versions now with Blu-ray (not UHD) it can’t read it, so clicking “ignore all” will take 5 to 10 minutes to finally decrypt a disc.
That happens with almost every Blu-ray disc now.

Do you still have this problem?
Please run Passkey as admin to try again.
You may adjust the BluPath settings in Passkey - Settings window to load the disc in the problem.

Mona I will try running it as admin tomorrow or so.

I will also check the BluPath settings. Since it happens with pretty much every disc these days I wonder if I changed anything. Doubt it though, since those are settings I never change.
Will see what I can find.

I started Passkey as Administrator, left Blupath enabled.
Just ripped the episodes of the season 3 disc 1 without any issues.

After that finished I inserted disc 2 of season 3 and it was done processing very fast, upon trying to access the disc in File Explorer it ejects the disc. As it has done before.
So, I disabled Blupath and same thing. Disc is ejected as soon as I click the disc in File Explorer.

Mona I went a bit further than that :-)

01 = Started as user (fresh boot of the computer)
02 = Run as Administrator
Both cases File Explorer shows “BD-RE Drive” but no volume label, which is shown in the log file.
Disc ejects when I click the drive.
03 = Rebooted the computer, Run as Administrator.
File Explorer shows volume label next to “BD-RE Drive”
04 = Next disc. Can’t open disc because of eject.
05 = Reboot, different drive, Blu-path disabled. Still shows a Blupath notification and in log?

After 5 I inserted another disc and had to reboot the computer again.
Also, both drives are in the same brand/model extern USB housing they have been in for years.

It feels like after Passkey is done decypting it either won’t give back full control to Windows over the drive, or Windows isn’t picking the disc up anymore. That is how it looks, anyway.

With the latest release, which the changelog mentions only to add another decscryption, the problems still persist.
And looking at the numerous other topics on the same subject, I would like an update on this.
Has anything been done with the review since 23 December 2025?

It’s been 3.5 months and the issue is still not solved.
And it doesn’t matter if I run as Administrator or disable Blupath, any second disc will eject and say no disc is present even though the disc inserted was decrypted.

This is unworkable if you want to rip multiple discs, say in a series.
Rebooting my computer between each disc is not acceptable.

As a final update, for now, it turned out to be Fan Control causing my issues.
Stopping the program makes the disc show up like it should.

At first I thought it was related to PawnIO since OpenRGB, which I also use, use it.
But I was able to rule that out.

I will have to create a Issue at Fan Control to see if this can be fixed, because it is very annoying.
At least I can rip discs without having to reboot after every discs again.
