I tried to download all IMAX videos. For example I already downloaded Ant-Man IMAX months ago by accident. Now it doesn't matter which version I analyze I am only getting the regular version. I also tried to start the movie and copy the link but it is still the regular version. Same for Black Widow, Infinity War or Shang-Chi. But some movies like doctor strange download fine. So I don't know how to force IMAX download.

Since my thread got locked I have to open another thread. I try to download all Disney IMAX videos. I tried the method mentioned in the other thread. But the downloaded version in "Extras-> IMAX Enhanced" is the regular version. For example the version of Avengers Endgame was the IMAX version when I just downloaded the movie after analyzing. Now I downloaded the version in extras but the downloaded version is the regular version. Both Black Widow versions are the same. I am not able to download the IMAX version in any scenario.

2 things to try for this that may help. 1) Try going under all movies and then scroll to right, there is a group IMAX enhanced that has them all there. 2) Close out of StreamFab and go directly to D+. Go to the movie and then select to watch the IMAX version and start the movie. Then close out of D+ and go back through StreamFab. A while ago, I had the issue and item 2 fixed it. Haven't had it in a while so not sure if it's still valid.

As was already asked do users need Disney+ Premium to get Imax? Or is there some issue either on Disney+ or latest version(s) of streamfab? Or how does one get the Imax version since some users reported issues getting them?

Ok, so that implies some Imax movies, only selected sequances are Imax.. Is that why some are saying they don't get Imax, when trying to download the Imax specific movie(s)?

That's true for a lot of IMAX movies. Extra 10$ to see 30 seconds in an expanded aspect ratio. Anyway, at one point when downloading from D+ after they introduced the IMAX format option it would automatically be downloaded and, as the excerpt from D+'s support site says, you'd have to manually select it to not watch in IMAX at home. I've assumed that has still been the case, but I guess not. The aspect ratios on all of my downloaded D+ stuff are either 2.35 or 1.78

No films are entirely iMAX, some are "IMAX enhanced" just like the Dark Knight films, where some shots were filmed in IMAX, and are intercut with the normal aspect ratio film content. Sorry, this has kinda been common knowledge since D+ added the Marvel films with IMAX enhancements. If you download the "enhanced" versions, only selected scenes are in IMAX< just like if you actually ever watch one of the films on D+.

I was just trying to get to the bottom of why some say they try and select the IMAX versions and don't get them. I never got to that in the short time I had Disney+. Seeing what is said now, they may be getting the IMAX versions and not knowing, if only parts of the movies are in IMAX. When you say nowhere near the same, what exactly do you mean?

Does the web not show you the 1.9:1 Imax scenes from time to time?

Watching from browser, I could easily see the IMAX scenes on one of the IMAX movies.
Watching from saved movie, I could not see them.
After several attempts at downloading, I finally got the download to show like what was seen in the browser.
It seemed to happen for some movies in IMAX. Other movies only took one download attempt.
I wanted to post screenshot comparing the same scene between browser and movie to show how they were so different, but when taking a screenshot using 4 different programs, the movie in browser showed black in the screenshot.
In that particular movie, more of the top of the head was cut off as well as more of the bottom of the scene was cut off when saved then what was shown in browser.
But as stated, after a few attempts I got the movie downloaded properly.
I have been having some strange problems with Edge browser, so not sure if that has anything to do with screenshot of browser coming black or Disney+ somehow blocking screenshots in browser, and I am too tired this week to care.

I saw those before I posted. They seem to back up what I said. Infinity War was shot in IMAX (1.9:1), and that is how the IMAX Enhanced on D+ is showing via the App on my Shield, and Chrome on my PC.

The other movies only have select scenes in 1.9:1 aspect, mixed with the mostly non-IMAX aspect.

What I don’t know is, why Disney+ is showing what appears (based on aspect ratio) to be the IMAX version for Infinity War no matter what I select on PC Browser, and download via StreamFab. Where as the Disney+ App on my Shield and FireTV do show the non-IMAX (like my 4K Bluray version) when I select the “Cinematic version” for playback.

Again, I don’t know if this is a SF issue, or a D+ via Browser type issue.

As I have the 4K Bluray of Infinity War, I’m not so worried about downloading the “Cinematic” version from D+

While I’m waiting for StreamFab to deliver the Disney keys, I figured out something related to the IMAX issue.

This is about the 2008 movie Iron Man. I own all three versions in both Dolby Vision and HDR10.

With every HDR10 video, the aspect ratio switches from standard cinema to IMAX. This happens only with HDR10, not with Dolby Vision.

What’s odd is that all HDR10 files are identical, and all Dolby Vision files are identical as well. No idea why—maybe the analysis step plays a role, maybe it doesn’t. Try testing it yourself.

I re-upped my D+ sub and have been downloading all the Marvel movies in 4K. The ones marked as IMAX enhanced, I just download the main movie and that is the version I get. The whole movie is not in the IMAX aspect ratio, only some scenes for the older movies. The F4 first steps movie is the whole movie.

Yes, but nobody claimed the film was in IMAX from beginning to end. It’s only some scenes… Still, the whole thing is strange…

The main issue is not many ‘IMAX’ movies are full in IMAX.
So people play part of it and say oh I am not getting IMAX version.
Now, there is some weird issue(s) with downloading them.
Most times you will get the IMAX version, downloading the main movie set default by SF.
Sometimes you will not, the same with selecting the IMAX specific title, most times you will get the IMAX version, sometimes not.
I had at least one or 2 movies I did not get the IMAX version.
What I then did was I played a few minutes of the IMAX version from the Disney+ website on my computer.
Then had StreamFab analyze it again and then got the IMAX version.
Once you get used to how Disney+ works, watching the IMAX on your PC and playing the IMAX-specific movie, you can scan through until you find the scenes that are in IMAX, note the time frame(s), and load up the downloaded file and go to the same time frame. It will be easy to see if you do have the IMAX version or not.

Added: Ok, this seems to be worn out. If not getting IMAX, SF may need a second attempt.
I am going to lock again, as in all reality selecting the IMAX version in StreamFab should most times get IMAX unless there is an occasional glitch. If you need to be 100%, play the IMAX version in browser for several minutes, exit out of the browser, and analyze again in SF.
