Based on your suggestions in the forum, I tried the MPV video player, and with that player the mkv video file actually looks fine on my PC (no green / pink colors anymore).
However, I’m still a bit confused about the behavior:
I also created ISO files from my 4K UHD Blu-rays, which include Dolby Vision. When I play those ISOs using PlayerFab on my Windows PC, the colors are perfectly fine (no green/pink tint).
That’s why I was surprised that when I play the downloaded MKV file (also with PlayerFab), the colors are incorrect, unlike what I’m used to from my 4K UHD content.
I was also expecting it to work on my TV, but when I play the file directly via USB on my LG OLED TV, I still get the same green and pink color issue.
The suggestion about the Zidoo 8K Media Player sounds very interesting. I actually didn’t know such devices exist, where you can connect a hard drive and play media properly with full format support. I might look into that as a potential solution.
