Name templates convert directory seperator

I’ve noticed with both ATV and HBO modules, when my films template is set to Films\movie.name… the directory separator gets converted into an underscore instead of actually being a directory separator… Seems fine under Amazon and D+ though (can’t remember if Vudu is affected)

I have exactly the same problem for Paramount Plus, Hulu, Peacock, etc.!

It started several releases ago.

I figured it would get addressed so never reported it but now I think 6 or 7 releases have come out since this stopped working.

Boils down to the “\” character in the Name Template is converting to an underscore in the filename instead of creating a folder, which is what it’s always meant before.

Even the Sample shown in Setting indicates a folder should be created.

What is going on??

For some reason this all started after a long time working properly.
Looking back the reports started with the use of ().
This was claimed to be fixed in 7014, but after 7014 more reports still came in.
More to do with \ or / , and it was noted before SF uses different download templets depending on provider.
Only what I found in community, others may find more reports.:

Can’t say what’s up I used Peacock recently and saw no issue maybe it’s something how the template is set?
Or maybe it got worse in 7018, 7019 as I have not downloaded as much.

What may be needed is to identify the providers and what result one expects and result one gets.

Yes, I’ve been using StreamFab since June 2024 and “\” in the template creating a folder has worked since then.

As an example, movie.name\movie.name as a template should create a movie file in a folder of the same name, e.g.

Queen of Outer Space/Queen of Outer Space.mp4

The sample shown in Settings for the template confirms that.

Instead a file named Queen of Outer Space_Queen of Outer Space.mp4 is being created.

Only stopped working a few releases ago.

For more specifics, I’m on Windows 10 and currently using StreamFab 7.0.1.9….. in US

Hmm, I now see that a handful of Providers are working correctly in this regard but most aren’t.

I finally just vibe coded a python script to monitor the incoming folder that streamfab dumps the files in and separate the TV Shows from the Movies.

No fix yet in 7.0.2.0.

Issue with folder creation persists.

Tested in 7.0.2.1.

No changes - folders still not created for the previously-mentioned Providers.

Actually, unable to test HBO Max as analysis of movies never triggers.

But I see there’s another thread referencing that.

Sadly, no – HBO Max still not generating folders as it should, as well.

Just for grins, I used the HBO Analysis fix beta provided a few days ago to see if it maybe also fixed the naming problem for HBO Max plus Peacock, Paramount+ and Hulu.

Nope, no changes.

Well, it was worth a try. :=)

Guys –

I checked CW, HBO Max, Hulu, Paramount+, Peacock, and Tubi with 7.0.2.2 and in all cases folder generation is restored – based on the Name Template.
