AV1 not being detected

New issue. AV1 not being detected. It is showing a file size but the downloads are h264.
Tried several different shows, including ones I was able to get AV1 yesterday.

Using 7020. Did not try 7021 yet.

For 5.1 EAC, try Law & Order. AV1 of this show episodes are around 300 Mb + the audio.

MrGrackle Netflix is working for me for BEEF s02e01.

For L&O s21e01 I get the same results. I don’t know how to request the metadata for NF so see what is offered, but given L&O is so recently on loan from Peacock, I’m not surprised it is only downloading in h264.

If 99% are offered in AV1, the problem certainly doesn’t lie with SF ..
.. it only affects s21 - because s22 works in AV1
(tested with Standard - so SDR)

Germania , this is what happens when one is woken up too early. I did the entire season 2 of L & O and got AV1 on all but S22E22. S22E22 downloaded as H264.

This was just done this morning, my time, in the USA.

Definitely not an SF issue; Netflix is at it again.

BTW: I did at 720, just to test and download and process faster.
I notice now S22E22 was downloaded only in 480 even though 720 was selected.
As noted in the Download Report.

Seeing this thread I‘m worried about my current downloads. The analyzer let me pick AV1 but the outcome for all the newly added WWE Events (Royal Rumble, Fastlane, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, etc. literally all of them) is H264, no matter if new or decade old events.

Is this a bug or is this really what Netflix is offering. Because if it‘s a current bug I‘d have to redownload all of the stuff in AV1 again. I just need to know.

Past live events have always been offered only in H.264 by NF ..

I looked back and didn’t find wrestling in AV1 downloaded by SF.
Something maybe with WWE?

My issue is now, why does SF, when analyzing, does it even show selections for AV1 if the programs are not available in AV1? That would need to be fixed, and maybe say in the resolutions section when AV1 is selected, say, “not available.”

So why not do for AV1 what SF does for H.265? If you try choosing H.265, it says “if available”.

I will reiterate.. L&O S21 I got > half way thru then no more av1. Even tried av1 on previously dl’d content that I got av1 already. I am seeing S22 like you guys saw. I think something is changing. I kind of doubt NF would remove av1 after it was already served.

There is Something going on, Stranger Things Tales from 85 S01 and Recalé S01 are no AV1 offered and normally 99,9% all new Titles are offered in AV1, maybe Detection from SF not correct or Netflix is Working on something.

I can confirm the absence of AV1 for both series ..
.. however, I’ve also experienced this several times before,
that new (non-American) series only offered AV1 1-2 days later.

Therefore, I personally will wait (and hope) before dl the series

As of now I’m getting AV1 HDR + Atmos for Stranger Things: Tales from ’85. Guess the wait is over. Apex also downloaded as AV1 HDR + Atmos.

Now it offer no H264 Main if no AV1 is available ..
.. but H264 High is also wrong if AV1 is selected.

Unfortunately it’s now more difficult to detect if it’s not a AV1 offer

Yes I can confirm .. but it’s currently only in AV1 HDR (with Premium plan).
With Standard plan I get no AV1 SDR offer (unchanged only H264 offer in SF).

Same with Santita and Recalé (aka: Flunked) - AV1 is only offered for Premium Users

the weird thing is Running Point S02E01 + E04 is avaible in AV1 SDR and Stranger Things Tales from 85 E10 also.

For most NF originals I generally go h265 so that I get DoVi.

One of the Pokemon series I got awhile ago shows larger files than what I currently have. Probably absence of av1. Since it was just some poking to see if other stuff is affected, I didn’t go with the dl.

So does one think it is not an SF problem or is it? Where is the breakdown?

I don’t believe that SF is only forcing the lack of AV1 in selected titles/seasons.

It’s either new/newer programs, although I have not checked older programs, or Netflix, for some stupid reason, only offers AV1 to Premium users. I see only H.264 for Stranger Things Tales from ’85.

I, for one, refuse to go higher; I have the standard without ads.
The only other choice is Premium: $26.99 / month.
Of course this then gives 4K availability via stream devices.

I know before when prices were talked about, it was most likely cheaper than going to the movies, but for me on a limited income, I can only go so far. And I have not gotten to the movies in over 20 years.
