New issue. AV1 not being detected. It is showing a file size but the downloads are h264. Tried several different shows, including ones I was able to get AV1...

On some titles I am getting the obvious h264 file size even with AV1 selected. Then I toggle to VP9, h265, h264, then back to AV1 again, and I am able to get the AV1 to eventually come up.

Do we still think the issue is on the end of NF?

Want to look at a real ragtag series, look at season 2 for Spirit Rangers.
Every other episode does not seem to show av1. I truly doubt this is a NF issue.
All episodes appear to have h265 HDR10 and DV though.

Play in regular browser and press ctrl+alt+shift+d
All AV1 content play AV1 in my regular browser ..

However, more and more series are emerging
that do not offer AV1 (especially in SDR)

I find it pretty odd that NF would delete the data from their servers.
Would love to see what you find out from your digging.

The series I mention oddly has DoVi and HDR10 in h265, but av1 alas is SDR. And S2 it is every other episode, which makes no sense really.

Of course L&O already mentioned, poof, av1 disappeared overnight.

It might actually be the way that SF fetches AV1, I get this (in the logs) for half the Archer series in CA:
... "code":"FAIL","detail":"licensedManifest/playapi-532: All audio or muxed streams for viewable were removed due to country exclusions ...
while SF downloads H.264/High just fine

edit: for completeness: S5+6 are affected, others come through as AV1

Fix: Some Netflix videos only show 1080p/480p video quality when AV1 codec is selected.

Now it offer no H264 Main if no AV1 is available ..
.. but H264 High is also wrong if AV1 is selected.

Unfortunately it’s now more difficult to detect if it’s not a AV1 offer

Germania something’s definitely going on either on SF’s end or NF’s end; just found stuff that was downloadable in AV1 last October isn’t downloadable in AV1 now (with 7025 nor 7026)… (yup, I discovered that I had all of Archer from NF, and all of it is in AV1, where as now S5+6 are not downloadable in AV1, neither in CA nor UK)

Germania so I tried a quick d-tour with just a web browser, and was getting only avchigh with Nord via Hamburg last night…. (And with both Nord DNS and Google DNS)… maybe it’s the way that NF routes entitlements for various plans, I’m on their whatever max is, or maybe it’s where you originally sign in…. Or even sign up.. Gotta have to do more digging…

My test was a german ad-based account ..
.. but I get the same AV1 with NF ad-free Account from India using VPN in DE

Stan001 I’ve the 4K sub, AV1 glitches as above… curiously Jennifer’s Body is in 720p with AV1 but in 480p with AVCMain
