External Devices USB to transfer movie?

Can you transfer a movie files on a USB to the Sata hard drive installed on the machine?

Yes. Plug in the USB drive to a port on the MS. It should be visible under Local videos as removable disk X. Your main hard drive should also be listed as SATA 1 or using the volume name you assigned to the drive. Open the USB drive in folder mode, not poster. You will get a pretty standard tree view of the drive. Push the menu button on the remote and you will get a pop up menu with cut, paste, rename, etc. functions. You can copy/cut files from the USB drive to the main drvie using this menu.

I would like to know the correct destination directory of that copy/cut/paste and how to add them to the library so they appear with their posters and information.

There should be a directory named DVDFAB at the root of the hard drive. Under that, two directories named "Movies" and "TV Shows". Your movies and tv shows go in the appropriate directory.. The naming convention for them is described in a sticky post.
