The PS3 will play blu-ray disc copies over a network, but only if the video is MPEG-2 or AVC encoded (not VC-1, the other option) and audio AC-3 encoded. However, this does mean that the video doesn't need transcoding (if MPEG-2 or AVC) and so quality is maintained.
Would it be possible to have an 'audio conversion to AC-3' option under BD Copy?
Regarding the VC-1 blu-ray discs, apparently there is a way of remuxing them as .WMV files (PS-3 compatible) with minimal video quality loss. An option under blu-ray copy / rip would be much apprecited!
