Additional BD Disc options

Is it possible to get:

1. A pre check on file size vs. disc space?
2. An additional disc option for the BD25-RE which only has a usable 22.5GB?

My main movies, compressed to BD25, have been 23+GB. I realized this only after hours of trying to write to a BD25-RE disc multiple times and continued to get a writing failed message after 5-6-hours. Trying to burn the files with Nero, I received the immediate message..... not enough disc space.
