DVDFab (UI/General) Distributed Computing for Encoding

Divide the encoding load of one movie among several computers. A small client could be installed on other computers that would in turn process a "chunk" of data to be encrypted, then once done sent back to the master DVDFab computer.

Get the picture? Or am I insane?

Insane. There is enough hassle with load distribution between CPUs and GPUs... Quite frankly, today's computer with four cores in CPU and two cores in GPU is, in a sense 6 computers.

Yes, 6 computers in one (but not really, only one front-side-bus). So imagine all that times 4 computers?

Your argument is flawed. Distributed Computing already exists for far more complex processes.

      Got anything else?

For far more complex processes people these days using Tesla and Fermi (affordable supercomputers). Time for you to move to 2010

Well, I still think it's a good idea. I am just misunderstood, like an artist.

There is already an open source project that does exactly this. The name escapes me but it allows you to easily setup a render farm.

I doubt DVDFab would entertain such an idea any time soon.
