Anything Else Sony - BlueRay and TV file formats?

I've recently setup a DLNA server on my LAN to stream videos to my Sony TV's and Blueray players.

This seems to work great. However if I wish to stream an MKV file it can start to stutter while the video is transcoded.
I'm wondering if there is a default file format for Sony TV's and Bluerays that wouldn't need trancoding .

Does anyone have any ideas where I might look to find this info out?

Well I've done some testing and found that the mpeg2-ts video files don't require transcoding by any of my Sony Blueray players or Bravia TV's

    Blu-Ray Ripper to TS
    ts.ac3.high_quality profile used.

This makes me very happy as windows media player plays these as well with out transcoding from the dlna server either.

I haven't tried to play any of these files with iTunes but might later to night. Don't expect them to work.

Just posting my findings in case anyone was interested.

I don't know how I missed the fact that the m2ts file format works well on both Sony TV's and on they're Blueray players without transcoding as well

      Blu-Ray Ripper to M2TS
      m2ts.ac3.high_quality profile used.

      Creates an AVCHD Video
