    Graphics card question

I would appreciate somebody to comment the following facts, of course the same BD50 to bD25 movie with the same settings has been re-encoded.

    1st run:
    Decoding: Software
    Encoding Software
    Time: 40m 21s

    2nd run:
    Decoding: Software
    Encoding Software + CUDA
    Time: 37m 45s

my Maths brings to a poor 5% improvement when CUDA is used on top of the processors power.

FYI - DVDFab is running via bootcamp, on a Mac Pro "Eight Core" 2.26 (Early 2009/Nehalem) powered by two 2.26 GHz Quad Core 45-nm Xeon E5520 (Nehalem) processors with a dedicated 256k of level 2 cache for each core and 8 MB of "fully shared" level 3 cache per processor. 24 GB 1066 RAM and GTX285 1 GB.

Do you think the improvement would be better in case of a faster video card? (e.g. GTX 470, GTX480 or GTX680, which are the cards I am actually evaluating to upgrade to...)?

Thanks in advance for the heads up.

I moved your post here to its own thread, no need to tag onto a two year old thread.

And to answer your question check for the number of CUDA cores the more the better. So the GTX 680 is the better of the three you've listed.
