samsung video pack

not sure if this is the right place for this or if its even allowed to ask. if this is not, please remove.

does anyone know if the Samsung video pack can only work with the original hd that it comes with? people have tried to back up to another drive without success. is there a way to bypass whatever is going on that prevents it from being backed up?
