    Cinavia

Hey guys I've been reading about this latest protection that will soon be coming on blu ray discs. As far as I've read, "The Losers" and "Repo Men" already have it, so this mildly scares me. Obviously your hardware player has to support it, and from what I hear all players made after the fall of '09 already have it. Also, if you have a player from before that and you've updated the firmware then you probably have it as well. Give this page a read if you're interested and tell me what you guys think about this. Thanks.

I was just wonderin', how do you backup your discs? Because apparently the signal is in the audio, so I don't think DVDFab would even detect that it was there. I just heard on a different forum that someone tried to play their backup in their PS3 and they got a message warning, saying the audio would be muted every so often because its Cinavia protected. So its possible this disc doesn't have it I guess but you never know. Do you shrink your discs and burn them or convert them and leave them on your comp?

Also, I believe the player, either software or hardware would have to have Cinavia support in it. So if you're playing back from your software player you will most likely be alright(for now) until they get the commercial players to sign on. But for us hardware guys I think we're done for. As far as I've read, this is hypothetical by the way, lets say you were watching a BD with this Cinavia protection and you were at the same time filming your child playing or something. If you later went to play the footage on your Cinavia enabled player the same thing would happen. You would get a message about it and the audio would be muted. Nice huh. I mean this hasn't been fully incorporated yet and supposedly is only on a couple discs so far, but it still makes me nervous.

I not have a BD burner just reader and have not tried the BD yet but going to try it tonight but only rip to HDD and then playback using a softplayer. The Cinavia from what I read is reliant on the AACS protection and if removed then the back up or unprotected files will not have audio during playback. The way I see it is if it reliant on AACS then why not leave the protection on your back up and just remove the region coding as that is the only protection on this BD anyway

Well maybe that would work but you would think leaving the AACS on there would still make the backup unplayable. I don't know, I guess its too early to worry about it. We'll have to see how it goes when Fengtao and everyone else gets a disc to test.

Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of the developers have gotten a copy of "The Losers" on blu ray yet and what you guys think about this Cinavia Protection and if you think it can be broken or not. Anyways, I went and bought my copy of The Losers today. I took it to my buddys first and tested the backup on his LG BD550 player which is brand new with stock firmware and the audio muted after approximately 20 minutes. No error popped up at all from what I saw. And it didn't cut out completely, it would cut out for 15 seconds then cut back in for 15 and it kept doing this. I thought that it would mute the audio for a full 20 minutes or not have audio for the rest of the movie. So then I took the backup and played it on my Sony BDP-S360 player with firmware version 007 and I'm about a half an hour into it and no muting that I see. Just figured I'd give you guys a little info.

Dunno if the Fengtao and the F-team has this disc or not.
Good info to know and thanks for the info and update.

Work has me pretty much buried, but I'll follow up on it as soon as I can...probably not until tomorrow
