Backup Bluray to dvd

How do I backup my blu-ray disc so it will play on
a standard DVD player?
dvd5 downconvert will only play on my blu-ray player.

it won't play on a standard dvd player, mainly because dvd players do not play the avchd format, nor do they recognize mkv or mp4 files.
