Blu-Ray (BD) supports HD up to 1080p resolution but can also have less quality. Almost all BDs are HD and most are 1080i or 1080p.

Same resolution, yes. Same quality, usually not even close. Satellite and cable usually offer up to 1080i resolution but often cut the bandwidth allotment so the quality suffers. The few shows that are given adequate bandwidth are usually sports. Although I have heard good things about people with FIOS.
