Other Can we add subtitles with DVDFab?

I use ConvertXtoDVD and sometime AVS Video Converter to convert foreign *.mkv files to DVD and save them on my HDD, set to 8 GB max. I do this because if I convert and burn directly to a DVD5 disc, a 4GB file is compressed to just over 2 GB on the disc, which means significant video quality loss. So I convert to my HDD firstly then burn to disc, using DVDFab, which is set to 4300MB max. But the embedded subtitles in matroska files are excluded in the conversion process.

I am able to download subtitles for these movies and read on the Internet that DVDFab can add subtitles when writing to HDD or DVD media. If this be the case, where can I find the option to add the subtitles in DVDFab? I could not find them in the "Common Settings" menu.

First of all, I want you to please keep in mind that things I say are my own opinions and are results of my experience with DVDFab and other programs that I will mention.

You say you're using DVDFab to burn DVDs - I've had better results using other programs to burn DVDs. DVDFab is currently the best software on the market when it comes to removing protection off DVDs and ripping them to hdd. Period.

As far as burning goes, I have had a lot of success with ImgBurn, a free program available here:

But before you burn, you might want to create an ISO of your AVI file. You can do that with DeVeDe, available for free for Windows and Linux. I am currently using it on both, Win7 and Ubuntu. Download installer here:

As far as subtitles go, I have not had very pleasant experience with DVDFab's ability to work with and around subtitles.

And before you create an ISO of your AVI file, you might want to apply permanent subtitles to it first (as explained here in post #16):

A bit complicated process, but it works fine for me.
If you like learning how to use new programs like I do, go ahead and knock yourself out.
