When compressing a 50gb BR movie to a 25gb BR disc, for back-up purposes, will you achieve a better picture quality by selecting "Main Movie" instead of "Full Disc" since you are copying less information? Also do the write speeds (2x, 4x, 6x, etc) have anything to do with picture quality or just how quickly you can burn a disc? Thanks

Yes, anytime you use less compression you'll have a better picture quality.

The rule of thumb is to select half the rated burn speed of your blank media so you will get a more stable burn and less likely to have a coaster.
