    Jerky playback motion-video card?

I have copied a few movies now but they all have a slight, but perceptible jerky motion which takes place very second or so. It is only noticable when an object is panning one way or the other such when a person is walking along the sidewalk and the buildings are panning in the background.
I am assuming this is not normal and is probably caused by a lackluster video card. I am using a one year old Lenovo ThinkPad with their standard video card.
Also, I plan to get a new desktop with a better video card but I don't want to wait to start copying my DVD collection. If I copy my dvds to my laptop (with the jerky motion), does it effect the copy quality, or will they play back ok on the new desktop?
    Thanks for your help.

    You have a few obstacles.
In particular, the slimline drive in your laptop is less than ideal for video archiving.
I don't know what your timetable is, but personally, I'd wait for a more robust pc.

You could always burn a bkup disc and see how it plays in a standalone player.

      Thanks-great idea

Thanks for the response. Great idea to try a copy in another player.
