what products do I need

I want to make lossless backups of my blu-ray collection, primarily onto my hard drive for viewing MKV's on my PS3.

I would also like to be able to burn lossless BD-R's as well.

Do I need anything besides blu-ray copy to get started?

It seems like I might be able to use blu-ray passkey and imgburn to do the same thing.

Would I need blu-ray ripper for anything mentioned above?

On a tight budget.

Recommendations?

You will need the ripper for making MKV files. Best bet to get Blu-ray Copy for your disk copies.

PS3 does not play MKV, unless something has changed??

Not that I know of!!! I still regard it as a POS as a Media Player !!!

It plays the mp4 that the profile makes and DivX very acceptably. I put a 320GB HDD in ours and it will hold a butt load of movies, no handling by the little ones. There are compromises of course it's a game console and a web browser as well.
