    Optical Drives BD Ripping

While I've ripped many DVDs, I've never done a BD. Can I correctly assume that I'll need a BD optical drive? Since my interest (presently) is only ripping BD to DVD, can I use a drive that ONLY reads BD but does not write BD? If so, are there any recommended drives in this category?

I realize the questions are basic for most but it's easier to learn first than make lots of coasters. Thanks in advance for any help.

    phillyfella,
Yes, to work with BD you will need a BR Drive.
Seems your intentions are only to read BD, not write. Of course, drive that only reads BD is what you need. Most likely, same drive will be able to write DVDs as well.
In terms of which one, there are as many opinions as members on this forum. Please use search, something like "optical drive" or "Blu-ray drive", etc. and read, read, read... Also, newegg.com is a good reliable source... or you can google for harware reviews. Google is your friend.
