    "Small" Picture

I've just finished ripping 'TANGLED' and although the screen size seems to be the normal 16:9 aspect ratio (Overall), it does not 'fill' the screen as normal. It seems to be about 50% of the normal size and I have to set my HDTV to 'Wide Zoom' to watch it in 'full size' - I hope I've described this properly? This happened also with a couple of other rips recently. My 'Test BD' is Gladiator' and that rips just fine with no aspect or size problems - Any suggestions for rectifying this would be welcome -- or is this a bug that may be addressed in newer versions of the programme?

FYI I rip to a local HD, then transfer to a NAS for streaming over my network to PS3 --- Watching the 'Tangled' BD rip on my desktop has the same 'size' problem

The picture I've attached is what 720x480 looks like on an HD TV. If the NAS is passing it through as 'Original" that's what it will look like. The PS3 will scale it up, press the green triangle button and select the icon that looks like a box, you can select normal or zoom as you prefer.

      Small Picture

Thanks to all for the responses - Regarding the logfiles, I re-ripped all three BD's (Tangled, Dorian Gray and Conviction) and the following are the extracts from the logfiles for these three movies - The method I am using is BD Ripper to PS3 profile with AV Codecs set to 'Software' - Rips are directly to the desktop HDD then copied to a separate NAS HDD

As a matter of interest, the BD of 'Conviction' which I had previously ripped a couple of days earlier and displayed on my HDTV as a 'Full' size picture has now, in this latest rip changed to 'small picture' --- The logfiles (copied below at the end of this reply) show the information for the first rip on 2nd April plus the latest rip which was done this morning 4th April --- Also, please note that I cancelled each operation prior to completion (copied about 30 minutes worth of each BD) due to time limitations - Hopefully the logfiles will have captured all relevant information?

WRT the green triangle on the PS3 and selection of normal or zoom from here - Using this option works fine but I've not had to do this before with other rips so my concern is --- What has changed to cause these 'smaller' pictures? I have 2 methods of getting the stream to the PS3 - One is the dedicated HDD NAS and the other is a free PS3 streamer direct from the desktop HDD - Both methods have the same problem --- Additionally, if the 'Preview' screen is selected during ripping the picture on this screen does not 'fill' the whole aspect as it did before --- It all sounds a bit complicated so I hope my attempts to explain are understandable

I will be ripping a couple of new BD releases tomorrow and any light shed on this little quirk would be useful

Check your frame resolution on the next rip whaleshark, if 1920x1080 you can't it make small on the PS3.

          Frame Resolution

Thanks for the suggestion - The only BD that I actually own is 'Gladiator' and I put this in to rip it with the 1920x1080 resolution. This resolution is not present in the 'edit' menu so I had to 'Add' it manually - The rip is good and the green triangle options for zoom and normal on the PS3 is no longer active as the ripped 1920x1080 resolution does fill the whole screen - I'll try this out tomorrow when I have the new releases and let you know what happens --- How come 1920x1080 is not included in the frame resolution choices?

I don't do Blu-Ray at all, but I would have thought it would be there or maybe a "1080P" profile under PS3.

              That 'Small Picture'

Well, I ripped the BD of TRON today to PS3/MP4 format and manually put in a 1920x1080 frame resolution - It's all worked out very nicely with none of the 'small' picture issues on the HDTV

Looking more closely, it seems to me that this has been a PS3 'upscaling' issue more than anything as previous rips of other BD titles have been done in 1920x800 format and have displayed okay on the HDTV, so maybe the PS3 was automatically upscaling without my knowledge - Maybe the latest PS3 update has changed all that - or maybe I have had dreaded 'finger trouble' and fiddled too much........

Don't you just hate it when things change without warning and without any tangible reason

Thanks for the responses anyway - Greatly appreciated
