VDVFab not responding, unable to uninstall...

I was trying to rip a DVD to WMV which I've done many times before but now it freezes when I get to the .14% on 1-pass encoding or .28% on 2-pass. Every time. Every DVD. When I try to close DVDFab with ctr/alt/del it says that DVDFab is not responding. When I click the cancel button on DVDFab it stops but then a window pops up telling me that I am going to try the "File Transfer option". This was with 8.0.8.8QT. I installed 8.0.8.5 and tried it with the same result. Now I can't remove 8.0.8.5. When I try I'm told that "C:\Program Files\DVDFab 8\unins000.msg" is missing and to correct the problem or obtain a new copy of the product. I tried reinstalling DVDFab 8.0.8.5 and 8.0.8.8QT, alternately, on top of 8.0.8.5 but no success. Help?

Possible the installer you d/l'ed is corrupt, try downloading it again and save it to your hdd, then right click it and run as admin.
If still no luck try restoring your PC to an earlier time using system restore.

The thing that bugs me is that it was working last week. I've tried uninstalling everything and re installing. I finally went into the program files and removed everything I could find of 8.0.8.5 but for 1 file that it would not let me remove, DVDFabShellEx.dll. It still doesn't work. It stops at .14% or .28% every time. I tried system restore as well.
