Does it make sense to buy/upgrade to CoreAVC 3.0?

I know people have touched on this question, but I don't see a definitive answer (maybe I missed it?) to the basic question as to whether there is either a quality or speed advantage to using CoreAVC v3.0 over the "Software Only" selection when using bdcopy or dvdcopy?

I also wonder whether hardware affects the answer to the question. I'm using a fast multicore PC (Intel 980x) but a non-CUDA compliant graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 5800).

Anyone have some specific info on this???

    Thanks!

Well, if you begging (oops, I meant insist)...
I would upgrade CoreAVC (I did, although still waiting for release ).
Especially in your situation (no CUDA), CoreAVC is the only hope
I don't know what software player you using, but CoreAVC especially good as primary codec for most players.

Sorry Marty, I have no idea. I'm not using it. Lets wait for somebody else to respond to this one.

BTW, Lightning-Recoding is not a codec, but method of calculation developed by DVDFab to improve BD copy process, and can't be compared to CoreAVC codec.

Thank you both for your thoughts. I think I'll upgrade and give 3.0 a try.

As for Lightning-Recoding -- it's brilliant, but still seems to have some issues.

As for the begging/insisting, what can I say -- I get lonely sometimes.
