    Where's the 720x480 NTSC support?

When converting a DVD to AVI, why is there no 720x480 NTSC support in the profile settings?

I'm trying to the profile "generic.avi.divx.audiocopy". When I disable auto-crop, the highest resolution I can get is 640x480.

However, with other applications, I'm able to copy at 720x480 NTSC.

    Thank you,

    Jake

Some other experts please comment but as I understand it:

720X480 refers to NTSC 4:3 aspect ratio. Most movies are 16:9. 720 includes 16 horizontal lines used for sync/blanking so 720 becomes 704. Using a 16:9 ratio the resolution becomes 704X396. Some movies use a higher aspect ratio so 704X396 can become 704X300. The numbers need to be divisible by 16. You should see some of these values in the list.

      Yes Bill, you are correct.

NTSC should be 704 x XXX dependant upon the aspect ratio
PAL should be 720 x XXX dependant upon the aspect ratio

And it all depends on the original resolution that the original DVD was composed at.

If you want to override the profile settings, you can always modify the profile.
