    Other Approximate Ripping Speeds?

Well, my new EVGA GTX 550 graphics card (and uprated PSU) did'nt really result in the dramatic improvement in BD ripping speeds (to PS3) that I had hoped for. I've tried using different combinations (CUDA is faster but results in an A-V synch problem) - Software only is still only about 25 fps conversion speed which is the same as my old card - Are there any indications as to what sort of conversion speeds (Average) I should be getting ? Anybody else out there getting faster speeds or about the same? I've tried all sorts of settings but nothing seems to improve matters that much - Even a straight rip to MKV is not any faster that the old card.... Suggestions would be very welcome - Thanks in advance

Not sure if this will help, but as data points for comparison...
My home built rig is just about 2 years old now...the guts are:

    Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor

    EVGA 896-P3-1257-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked Edition 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI

    Win7 Pro 64-bit

My results were similar to yours.
Used True Grit as a test and while I don't have a PS3, I used the default settings in Fab for this profile and used VLC for playback.

With CUDA, fps averaged about 45-50.
Without CUDA (software only...I don't have Core AVC), my fps was 35-40.

I did note av sync problems with both the CUDA enabled conversion and the software only conversion. Roughly evident about 1/3 of the way through to the end.
I only used v.8.1.1.2 for testing.

I never experience av issues or any other issues with standard dvd convsersions, but like many, I find BD conversions is a huge can of worms.
Simply, BD conversions are very labor intensive.
(My fps for standard dvd conversions average about 300-500 fps depending on the profile. The video quality is great and the resultant file size is approx 25% of original)

BD MKV remux, etc., works, but can have problems with HD audio and subtitles, particularly with respect to my media player.
While these problems can be rectified, I gain nothing and the cost/benefit ratio is awful...JMO

Ultimately, I don't convert BD files, I just stick 'em on 2 TB hdds in a couple media servers (total of 16 TB)
I use BD25 for main movie or sometimes BD9 which has outstanding video quality when viewed on a 42" HDTV via a media player

      Conversion Speeds

That's great - Thanks very much for your response - It looks like we have pretty much the same results and speeds - Thanks again
